Interesting that the article was published as an opinion piece, instead of as a regular news article.

This Iaonnis guy that was just killed was part of a Greek group running gambling on the danforth. Interesting part that the group was led by Paris Christopherou, one of the shooters in the California sandwiches bitched hit against Michele modica. He is supposedly kicked out of the hells angels a few years back. This group was ironically led by a Bulgarian, bobby manchev until he was killed in 2020.

IMHO, it probably has to do with how the Toronto Star categorizes someone like retired police officer Stephen Metelsky — he’s not on staff as a reporter for any Metroland Media outlets; so is he a contributor (i.e., contributing writer), opinion journalist, occasional columnist, or something else? — and the fact that one of the other instalments in his 3-part series included his opinions.

Any idea who this Vince Lombardo is who Manning said was a captain along with Avignone? I think he means a captain in the "Musitano family" when he says it.

Re: Buffalo/Ontario Mob Acitivity
If i remember correctly he was absorbed from Papalia after the murder. Cant find anything on him. Unless he meant Vince Campanella.
He also mentioned he believes the Papalia brothers knew about Johnnys pending hit
Also confirms they got permission/traveled from/to Buffalo the night before the murder which would align with Pats phone conversation with Johnny Catz afterwards agreeing the murder was the right thing.
Which would then negate any notion in articles or otherwise that came out in 98 that the family was dead

Re: Buffalo/Ontario Mob Acitivity
I don’t know who Vince is… I do know the Lombardo name has a long family history of associating with the Buffalo mob. There is a Joseph “Jo Jo” Lombardo who Todaro Sr. gave permission to run a book making operation in the polish area of Buffalo and Cheektowaga and Jo Jo paid up to Todaro. It had been operating for a few years according to an ‘81 FBI document.
There is a Joseph A Lombardo arrested many times on gambling charges in the 60’s and 70’s with known made men and associates of the Buffalo family. I wander is this is “Jo Jo”? This Joseph A appears to be Joseph P Lombardo’s dad (about 80% sure).
Funeral Director Joseph P. Lombardo was caught up in the BUSICO busts as a result of LaRosa becoming an informant.
Also, I believe Joseph P. has a cousin Joseph A Lombardo who is or has been involved. Lombardo is a common name so probably no connection to Vince in Canada… but I’d start with these guys to see if there is.
Should mention the Lombardo name came up in the recent gambling bust in Rochester as well.
I should note there is a 2012 chart floating around the internet that has Vincent Lombardo on it for the Canadian faction and tmarotta had him on the list he put on the LCN Charts Buffalo modern thread.

Thanks Nickle. I spoke to Manning and he confirmed when he said Avignone and this Lombardo were captains he was speaking about the "Musitano crime family" like I suspected.
I also asked about the Angelo Graci he mentioned that I wasn't familiar with and he shared an article with me. Turns out Graci and his son murdered a man back in 2020. Graci was just sentenced to time served recently and his son's trial is expected to start this month.

Musitanos were always a Buffalo crew until they needed the Rizzutos for protection.
Seems to be pretty active.

He has commented about his on my X... I believe this is his theory based on the fact that Bongiovanni hasn't been offed. I do know he has access to more information about this case than I have. Maybe it has its roots in that info too, but I think it is just his theory based on circumstances.Newyorkempire wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 4:34 amDid you ask when he thinks Bongiovanni got made?OcSleeper wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:32 pm Thanks Nickle. Re: Buffalo/Ontario Mob Acitivity
Metelsky believes Pat Musitano was made into the Buffalo Family and that Pino Avignone subsequently made the formal introduction as "amico nostra" to Vito Rizzuto with Panepinto present, implying Avignone is a Buffalo member as well and that Panepinto was a member of either the Buffalo or Bonanno Families.
Unless substantial evidence surfaces, I see the "Musitano Crime Family" as an outider LE designation and don't buy the idea of them having "captains". Metelsky's POV is the most obvious and logical, that the Musitanos are a rival faction within the Buffalo Family. This is supported by Otremens tapes where it was clear from Joe Violi that Todaro had to approve a murder connected to the Musitanos.
Much has been made about the Musitanos' business partnership with Vito Rizzuto as well and that Rizzuto's investment and ROI in Musitano operations signified some kind of formal "fealty" when I've seen nothing to suggest it. From what's avalable, there was a business relationship / alliance and Canada doesn't magically have its own rules where business or friendship = formal affiliation.
