Link below is to a short article by Claude Poirier, who is most well known in Quebec for his work as a hostage negotiator.

For the journalist interviewing him, Claude Poirier confirms that one of his neighbours growing up was Frank Cotroni.

1. July 11, 2021 article by Renaud claims Rizzuto and Sollecito are losing power.
https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/just ... ganise.php
2. Oct 8, 2021 article by Seguin says the Rizzutos are now the strongest group again in Montreal.
https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2021/ ... r-en-force
3. Dec 27, 2021 article by Renaud about the current layout of OC in Montreal. Again says the Rizzutos are losing power.
https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/just ... malite.php
Here's 3 artlcies from this year that talk about the current landscape of Montreal's criminal landscape. I think these were the only 3 but if I missed one post it below.
Seguin says the Rizzutos/Sicilians are the most powerful group in Montreal again and Renaud says that the Bikers are and that the Rizzutos/Siclians might be the strongest mafia but are losing influence.
I found this quote interesting from the latest article.

This was my belief when it came to the Arena, Barberio, and Oliverio shootings. I've been wary about calling these shootings a new power struggle or a continuation of one like some people have linked them to. Montreal has been relatively quiet since the 2019 Scoppa murders, with almost nothing in 2020. The Scoppa murders were the end of any conflict and Mirarchi fell back in line. The Barberio shooting is the most interesting though, being he's touted as the Street Boss of the Montreal Mafia and is close with Pizzi, HA, and the Rizzutos/Sicilians.“Currently, these are tensions that are much more linked to criminal activities than to a power struggle,” explains Julie-Anne Moreau, an analyst at the RCMP.

A man in his late 30s was shot dead in St Leonard late last night. As details emerge today, I imagine we’ll learn it’s OC related.

Police identified the victim who has no known criminal ties. The shooting took place at the intersection of Jean-Talon & l'Assomption Blvd, not even 100m away from Café Sorrento. Sorrento was the location of the likely attempted murder of Piero Arena back in August.PogueMahone wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 6:02 am A man in his late 30s was shot dead in St Leonard late last night. Do you know the details of his 2014 attempted murder charges that he had pleaded down? I can't seem to find an article about it.antimafia wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 10:33 am Un homme accusé de meurtre au premier degré

Link to my Evernote/Instapaper clip of the Montreal Gazette article on the same topic is https://www.evernote.com/shard/s229/sh/ ... c3505d9bb4.
Heads-up: Looks as though the newspaper has finally decided to hide at least some articles behind a paywall.
I couldn't find any information either about Joshua Sarroino's arrest in December 2014. When I searched the SOQUIJ legal-decisions database by using his surname, the search yielded 5 results found at http://citoyens.soquij.qc.ca/php/result ... =131315463. However, Joshua Sarroino doesn't appear in the results as either a plaintiff or defendant.
There is a woman by the name of Marisa Sarroino Shapiro who was invited to the 2010 Cattolica Eraclea Annual Party that was held at the Sheraton Laval on November 20, 2010, which was 10 days after Nick Rizzuto Sr. was killed. One of Jos Di Maulo's daughters, Milena, was invited to the same event.

Hmm strange we can't find anything, thanks for looking though.
I've noticed if I view multiple Gazette articles a day it'll start putting a paywall up but by the next day it'll be gone and I'll be able to view them again until I reach my limit.
The 2nd link you shared comes up as an error for me.

I forgot that the links to a results page work only during a live session.
Go to http://citoyens.soquij.qc.ca/?_ga=2.165 ... 1642125963 and then enter the surname per my screenshot.

Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
Joshua? That's a different name for an italian.
Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
Could be the anglicization of the Italian name _Giosue_. If he’s somehow related to Marisa Sarroino Shapiro’s family, maybe “Joshua” makes more sense?Tonyd621 wrote:Joshua? That's a different name for an italian.

Sorry. I shouldn’t have used the word “anglicization.” “Joshua” and “Giosue” are equivalent.

He said he was an ndrangheta member. If a "lower" level guy like Scarfo who took orders is a member of the Ndrangheta, what does it say about who he took orders from (i.e. Scoppas)?PogueMahone wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 1:54 pm Trial begins for Dominico Scarfo, accused of murdering two Montreal Mafia leaders:
