Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
De Vito seceded from the Rizzuto clan during the Project Colisée following a falling out with Arcadi. He was furious that he was filmed during an exchange he had with Arcadi following a failed drug deal and that a guy from the West End gang, Richard Griffin, with whom he was involved in drug trafficking was gunned down without being consulted
And he was certainly not a member of the 'ndrangheta

Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
I see what you mean, it should have said "a former influential Montreal leader" instead of "the" to avoid the confusion.SirWalnuts89 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 1:29 am But these articles are getting confusing lately, lol with everything going on. The Gazette article is the first time hearing De Vito was THE leader of the Montreal Mafia.
He was only the leader of his own cell/faction within Montreal. And the only thing I've seen that has listed him as a Ndrangheta members is that one chart that's posted here somewhere. Everyone here pointed out the inaccuracies of it though.

You'd think Canadian hitmen would be wary of the ice you can be running on a icy sidewalk, especially in Montreal.

Wrong trial. The article is talking about the Fredrick Silva trial, in which he's charged with murder and attempted murder. You're confusing that with the trial of Mary-Josée Viau and Guy Dion for the murder of the Falduto brothers.rolotomasi wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 10:56 am Never was told about Massari in the trial, always was told about Brad Pitt, thank you DANIEL RENAUD for give us the key (Brad Pitt = Jonathan Massari)

Excerpt below is from p. 368 of the Direzione Investigativa Antimafia report, published this past September 21, that covers the period from July 2020 to December 2020. This page and p. 367 are in section/chapter/part 8, titled Criminalità organizzata italiana all’estero e relazioni internazionali, and deal with Canada. (If I don't get around to posting other excerpts from the report, including but not limited to the section on Canada, please feel free to post in a new or existing thread.)
Nel 2020 sono state, infatti, eseguite ulteriori attività di scambio informativo relative all’omicidio dell’Agente della Polizia di Stato Antonino AGOSTINO e della moglie Giovanna Ida CASTELLUCCIO avvenuto a Palermo il 5 agosto 1989. On the date that appears in the above footnote, Nino Madonia was sentenced to life in prison for those two murders. Also indicted in relation to the murders is Gaetano Scotto. Posters on the old Real Deal forum might recall the thread about Scotto many years ago in relation to his attendance at the wedding of Nick Rizzuto Jr. and Eleonora Ragusa (Emanuele's daughter) in 1995, where former Camorra member Oreste Pagano was told by Alfonso Caruana at the event that Scotto had killed a police officer. I believe that the excerpt from the DIA report has to do with Scotto.
The following quote from Pagano is from an August 5, 2010 article that appeared on the Antimafiaduemila website:
Ero al matrimonio di Nicola Rizzuto, in Canada. C’era un rappresentante dei clan palermitani, Gaetano Scotto. Alfonso Caruana mi disse che aveva ucciso un poliziotto perché aveva scoperto i collegamenti fra le cosche ed alcuni componenti della questura. Anche la moglie sapeva, per questo morì.

Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
The video clip reminds me of the excerpt below from former Halton Regional Police Service police officer Stephen Metelsky's Undercover... book, ch. 14. Todd Moore, a detective with the Peel Regional Police Service at the time, was in conversation with Vito Rizzuto, who was finally back on Canadian soil after being released from FCI Florence.antimafia wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 5:40 am Tweet from journalist Félix Séguin about 10 minutes earlier:

A 15-second teaser video accompanies the tweet.
While the two men spoke, the funeral for Vito's father-in-law was taking place in Montreal at that very moment.
"What are your plans?" Moore inquired. It was a question the detective had to ask. "We knew he was at risk for being targeted."
"Vito are you going back tonight?"
"No, my son Leo is coming."
Leonardo Rizzuto was Vito's son. He was also an attorney in Montreal. The mob boss had utilized the services of his son's law offices on several occasions to discuss mob business, knowing that lawyer-client privilege would secure any conversations as confidential and difficult for police to intercept. His only daughter, Bettina, was also an attorney at law.
Vito provided Moore with the phone number for his son. When the detective called the lawyer on his cellular phone, Leo answered within seconds.
"Hi Leo. What are your plans? Are you staying in Toronto tonight or heading back to Montreal?"
"We'll figure it out, I am not sure what we are going to do."
Moore hung up the phone. Vito Rizzuto sat there and laughed. He turned his attention to the detective. "My son is a lawyer. He's not going to tell you fuck all."
