Link to Peter Edwards's article below is one of the best stories I've read all year. He is continuing to report on the testimony provided by police agent Carmine Guido.

Yes, JW, we are getting an insight into what has transpired in the last few years. As well, we are also getting insights into unsolved murder cases going back many years--the murder of Francesco Loeiro was in 1996 (see https://www.yrp.ca/en/community/Francesco-Loiero.asp.)John W wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 5:33 pmIv been following this trial closely through what’s been posted here, it’s a very interesting trial with lots of valuable information regarding the goings on in Ontario the last few years.antimafia wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 4:42 pm Cross-posting again.

Re: Italy: Toronto on brink of mob war
Both a motion and trial are scheduled tomorrow at 10:00 am in the case of Domenico Scopelliti, charged with the murder of his father-in-law, Rocco Zito, back on January 31, 2016. The case will be heard in a courtroom of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in downtown Toronto, where the cocaine-trafficking trial of 'ndrangheta member Giuseppe Ursino and 'ndrangheta associate Cosmin Dracea is being held ; the trial continues tomorrow. I hope to attend part of both trials tomorrow.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2016 3:27 pm [snip]

Jury selection in relation to Scopelliti's murder case begins next week on Wednesday, April 11. All parties will reconvene this Thursday morning.
I did attend part of the proceedings of Ursino and Draceca's cocaine-trafficking trial this afternoon. The jury was excused till 2:15 pm tomorrow after having previously been excused in the morning.

When he states the $2.4mil wasn’t ‘half of what I gave up’ he’s actually referring to opportunity cost of what he could have made as a criminal, not monies he actually forefitted/paid himself. So it’s a misleading statement. He never gave up a cent and was paid by the Canadian G $2.4 mil over TWO YEARS to be a CI. He sued when he wasn’t paid and won.
$2.4 mil over two years is a DISGRACEFULL amount of money for a CI to be paid.
Do we know why he flipped in the first place?
Don't give me your f***ing Manson lamps.

In the last post on p. 1 of this thread, I linked to an article that ostensibly provides reasons for his becoming a police agent, but they don't seem to give the full picture. This guy was stressed out before and after he flipped.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 8:34 pmGreat article AM.antimafia wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 6:52 pmantimafia wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 2:26 pm "Man who worked as paid agent for RCMP tells court he was not involved in murder of reputed mobster Carmine Verduci"

I would be curious to know whether he was being investigated during or before 2012. The latest article mentions an investigation that has never been reported on: Project OGusta, which preceded the investigation in which the two defendants in this cocaine-trafficking trial were targeted. The earlier investigation, if and when we ever find out what it was about, may yield clues as to why "Carmine Guido" decided to co-operate with the Mounties.

Re: The 'Ndrangheta in Ontario
Correction: I overheard one of the Crown lawyers in the cocaine-trafficking trial tell Peter Edwards outside of court that the name of the earlier investigation is "Project OBusta," not OGusta. Which means the Busta part of the project name could refer to one or more envelopes (tribute? payoffs?).antimafia wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 10:32 pmIn the last post on p. 1 of this thread, I linked to an article that ostensibly provides reasons for his becoming a police agent, but they don't seem to give the full picture. Excerpt:
On May 23, 2014, [police agent Carmine] Guido and Ursino spoke elliptically about the murder of reputed York Region mobster Carmine Verduci a month earlier.
Verduci was shot dead outside the Regina Café in an industrial and retail plaza near Hwy. 7 and Martin Grove Rd. The killing remains unsolved.
Guido told Ursino that a man named Antonio Coluccio ordered the closure of the Regina Café after the murder.
“They said close it for respect for Carmine, and they closed it,” Guido said.
“What’s Carmine have to do with this?,” Ursino asked.
“Because they killed him outside of there,” Guido said. “Closed. I don’t know why but together ... now it’s …”
“They were four or five that were involved,” Ursino said in a combination of English and Italian....
