does anyone know what model of BMW Fran Salemme had when he was shot in 89 at a pancake restaurant? the media said that his BMW was shot from an automatic weapon, but in the photo the shot car was not a bit like a BMW, but more like a Chevrolet Caprice

Definitely not a BMW. Based on the back window shape and logo, it looks like a 1985 Caprice Classic.

Italian food distribution to pizzeria and grocery / deli / bakery is still likely a major racket for more biz focused crews. Really big
Cash opportunities with almost no LE risk

Sure but I was referring more to the NY / NJ famIlies who like Todaro have various lucrative cheese , pasta , olive oil , bakery, fruit / vegetable businesses. I can’t think of a mafia food related bust

I think this was Frank Cali core business and with many Italian clans looking to get their Italian products in American stores , I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason Cali was so popular in italy is he found a home for many of their food / produce products. It seems there is a lot of $ in the food trade.

Spot on with Cali. I heard he use to be at all the big food shows.
