Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
While doing some research on Roselli and Fratianno, i stumbled upon these two small but quite interesting pieces from old time wiretapped convos between Roselli and Giancana, and i think these were already posted in the past but still i thought about posting them here again....
Heres the first one...
Roselli: ... He [Frank Sinatra] was real nice to me... He says: "Johnny, I took Sam's name, and wrote it down, and told Bobby Kennedy, 'This is my buddy, this is what I want you to know Bob'. "Between you and I, Frank saw Joe Kennedy three different times-Joe Kennedy, the father. He called him three times... He [Frank] says he's got an idea that you're mad at him. I says: "That, I wouldn't know".
Giancana: He must have a guilty conscience. I never said nothing... Well, I don't know who the fuck he's [Frank's] talking to, but if I'm gonna talk to... after all, if I'm taking somebody's money, I'm gonna make sure that this money is gonna do something, like, do you want it or don't you want it. If the money is accepted, maybe one of these days the guy will do you a favour.
Roselli: That's right, He [Frank] says he wrote your name down...
Giancana: Well, one minute he [Frank] tells me this and then he tells me that and then the last time I talked to him was at the hotel in Florida a month before he left, and he said, "Don't worry about it. If I can't talk to the old man [Joseph Kennedy], I'm gonna talk to the man [President Kennedy]." One minute he says he's talked to Robert, and the next minute he says he hasn't talked to him. So, he never did talk to him. It's a lot of shit. Why lie to me? I haven't got that coming.
Roselli: I can imagine... Tsk, tsk, ...... if he can't deliver, I want him to tell me: "John, the load's too heavy.
Giancana: That's all right. At least then you know how to work. You won't let your guard down then, know what I mean... Ask him [Frank] if I'm going to be invited to his New Year's party.
And the second convo is about Giancana and Roselli criticizing CIA bugging devices...
Giancana: You can't take a big mike like that and put it in a flat.
Roselli: Sure, if you can take it apart.
Giancana: If you take it apart, you might not get the volume as clear as...
Roselli: Well, you play with it, you get an electronics guy... One thing, let me tell you what it is. The CIA has it...
Giancana: Like a cigarette.
Roselli: The FBI out there... has got a portable, it takes conversations way out... I told them, for Christ's sakes report on that thing.. ......got another kind you.. A guy in LA who's got an electronic cap kind of thing, and he showed me that... so I got to find out what the smallest thing is. If you put it in there, you got a receiver? And receive it when you are set up?
Giancana: Maybe a block, two blocks, three blocks...
Roselli: How big was your receiver?
Giancana: Like a... the box was only this big, maybe three inches by three inches. We were talking "blah, blah, blah." It picked it up. Think about it.
Roselli: Yeah. I'll work on it. Bobby is in Washington

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
In addition to the convo regarding CIA bugging devices, according to old time CIA agent Robert Maheu, Outfit boss Giancana was using that same equipment for his own purposes, such as listening to the calls of his girlfriends.
Agent Maheu said that "Giancana was crazy with love for Phyllis (McGuire) at that time. He was very jealous indeed and he thought she was seeing other men while she was working in Las Vegas."
So one day Giancana called for Maheu and asked him to call one of his specialist to tap the phone of comedian Dan Rowan, and to see whether he was having romantic thoughts for McGuire. So Maheu agreed and later sent one of his agents to the hotel in which Rowan resided at the time, and the guy almost finished his job but the problem was that he was caught by the cleaning lady who in turn called the cops, and so Maheu's agent was arrested by the police.
The whole situation became a huge scandal within law enforcement circles and rumors started flying around with Giancana's name, and one of those rumors reached the ears of McGuire's alleged lover Rowan, who from that point on never said a word to McGuire ever again.
In no time, the whole scandal was buried under dirt mainly because the CIA didnt want for their criminal partnership to get exposed by the media.

Speaking about wiretaps, heres few interesting "quotes" from Frank the German Schweihs....
The first one is about one street tax collector who Schweihs didn't like:
FRANK: "I think he's gonna open up a hotdog stand in Alaska."
The second one is regarding North Side member Mike Glitta who sent someone to shake down Schweihs' associate Red Wemette:
FRANK: "Now, if Mike sent this cocksucker, sent this cocksucker here to bother you, Mike's in some fucking serious trouble, Red! Cause he has no excuse, he knows better. He knows this fucking joint is spoke for. And I don't think he would be that stupid to try and step on my fucking pecker or the people I'm affiliated with. Do you understand?"
And in the last one, Schweihs reassures Red Wemette that he's safe from harm as long as Schweihs protects him:
FRANK: "No, you don't have to be afraid, you got my word on that. There ain't no one gonna fucking touch you unless they knock me down first, and I'm not an easy guy to knock down, Red. You're with us, you're with me and there ain't no one gonna fuck with you - case closed! You got my fucking solemn promise on that."

Lol to tell you the truth i never researched the whole situation, but both the Grand Av crew (Lombardo, Schweihs) and the North Side mob (Solano, Glitta) operated on each others territories and so theres a great possibility that the beef really occurred, altough Glitta died of natural causesHired_Goonz wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:03 amDidn't he go on to say about this Glitta guy "I hope the fuck he did send the guy! Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Though I haven't seen this confirmed, I suspect there were some tensions or rivalries between Grand Ave and the Northside mob, going back to when Alderisio started muscling in on Rush St territory. Then later with Caifano and Schweihs (who I think was living in the area at the time?) tasked with overseeing Grand Ave operations in the Near Northside I'd bet there was some friction going on over shakedowns and collections, as seems to be hinted at in Schweihs's statements on tape.Villain wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:13 amLol to tell you the truth i never researched the whole situation, but both the Grand Av crew (Lombardo, Schweihs) and the North Side mob (Solano, Glitta) operated on each others territories and so theres a great possibility that the beef really occurred, altough Glitta died of natural causesHired_Goonz wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:03 amDidn't he go on to say about this Glitta guy "I hope the fuck he did send the guy! BTW I've read the transcripts but I'd love to hear the actual recordings that Wemette made of Schweihs. I'd imagine they'd be even more classic than the Jimmy I clip aired in Crime, Inc lol.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Back during the 60s Alderisios main rep on the north side was Needles Gianola (by that time Caifano landed in jail), until he was caught in that gambling raid by the end of the decade i think....you are right about the tensions and rivalries between some of the groups and they usually occurred during transfers of leadership or when one of those same groups became less powerful like in the case between the German and Glitta....Frank aka Sharky Eulo used to be Giancanas guy since day one and when Momo became the boss, Sharky became one of his main reps in northern Cicero BUT when Cerone became the boss, Sharky became his personal chauffeur (Messino was a lieutenant at the time and was busy with his rackets and court cases)PolackTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:13 am

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Thanks for the info on Eulo as well. I didn't know that Gianola was Alderisio's lieutenant for his Northside interests (I think Jack Gail would be another figure for Alderisio in this territory). Alderisio really had his hands in a lot of pots, given his attempt to also take over the Southside. Another guy I wonder about then was Crackers Mendino (as we've discussed) who was close to Gianola from back in his Taylor Street days. If Gianola was repping for Alderisio on the Northside, maybe Mendino (along with the Inserra bros?) was repping for Alderisio in Lake County? This also makes me wonder what if any role Alderisio played in overseeing Mendino's big narcotics trafficking ring.Villain wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:22 amBack during the 60s Alderisios main rep on the north side was Needles Gianola (by that time Caifano landed in jail), until he was caught in that gambling raid by the end of the decade i think....you are right about the tensions and rivalries between some of the groups and they usually occurred during transfers of leadership or when one of those same groups became less powerful like in the case between the German and Glitta....Frank aka Sharky Eulo used to be Giancanas guy since day one and when Momo became the boss, Sharky became one of his main reps in northern Cicero BUT when Cerone became the boss, Sharky became his personal chauffeur (Messino was a lieutenant at the time and was busy with his rackets and court cases)PolackTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:13 am

Given the long established Westside interests on the Northside, I also wonder about Albie Vena. I've always heard that he got his start for the Outfit on the Northside (despite being a C-Note and Grand Ave kid), but know I wonder if maybe he wasn't working for Solano, but rather repping Grand Ave's interests on the Northside for Lombardo instead? @SolarSolano has stated that Vena was also close to Jack Gail, who we already know was working for Alderisio in the 60s and was a Northside Jewish guy from Rogers Park.

Lots of Alderisios boys were involved in narcotics and so its pretty clear that he and Nicoletti both took their fat envelopesPolackTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:57 amThanks for the info on Eulo as well.
