I thought the same thing too. Ollis is an English name, I believe. Not sure if it's a typo of some sort or an associate was accidentally included.

Some of the old timers changed their last names, so it wouldn't be too surprising if this guy did the same.

Amazing how many times a journalist will write the same content but in a very minor differential way

NYS Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF) recently posted a job for Detective Investigator in Buffalo (applications due Sept. 2021) in which “The nature of the investigations conducted by OCTF includes traditional organized crime - gambling, loan sharking, extortion, and narcotics, among others.” https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/j ... _2_rms.pdf

Anglicized from Alessi (Sicilian).

I'm sure this has been covered before by you guys but I couldn't find anything in search so here goes: Is Todaro Jr. known/suspected to have personally killed anyone? I read somewhere he was a shooter on a hit in the 80s, killed a drug dealer or something.

He, Falzone, Sacco and Billiteri were all part of the bumbled hit on “Fausty” Novino: https://buffalonews.com/news/novino-des ... 4e709.html

Know a lot of people who think this:
Letter: Stop using the word ‘Mafia’ in newspaper sports features
See: https://buffalonews.com/opinion/letters ... e8d28.html
Probably going to hear this more and more if/when more news of the real Buffalo mafia comes out.

Yeah I'd heard about that one. So that's how he made his bones? (Though as the boss's son he probably wouldn't necessarily have to do that I suppose.)

I've also heard that he personally shotgunned a guy in the 80s but I can't find anything backing this up.

It's a misprint. The name is Anthony "e olio" Porto, the nickname denoting his very liberal use of olive oil.

Above is a screenshot from the HSI report on Bongiovanni about the raid on his home that was made available to the public following the pretrial motions in the his case (i.e. dismissal for racial animus). Anyway it appears Frank Todaro is mentioned in the report. He is the owner of Collision Masters Auto-body Shop where DEA agents took their vehicles for repair.

If you live in WNY you know Collision Masters' advertising slogan (at least till recently) has been "I Got A Guy," and they ran commercials with a Robert DeNiro look-a-like acting like a mafioso.

For your viewing enjoyment I've included links to these commercials.

I Got a Guy 2: https://vimeo.com/149878809

Additionally, Frank is was recently elected to the Erie County Legislature to represent the 8th district that includes Cheektowaga, Lancaster, and Alden.
Political newcomer Frank J. Todaro declared victory in his election bid for the Erie County Legislature on Tuesday.

Todaro, a Republican who was also on the Conservative and Independence party lines, upset Democratic incumbent John Bruso to claim the seat in the 8th Legislative District representing Cheektowaga, Lancaster and Alden.

Todaro, 40, is owner of Collision Masters. He has been campaigning on cutting the tax levy, government ethics reform and investing in county roads.

Frank Todaro is introducing a proclamation in the Erie County Legislature to honor the late Gerald "Jerry" Caci. According to the proclamation Gerald moved to Hollywood at age 18. Became lifelong friends with Fankie Avalon. He and his cousin travelled with Bobby Milano. He was close friends with and bodyguard for Gianni Russo from The Godfather movie... etc. https://www2.erie.gov/legislature/sites ... 20Caci.pdf

I am pretty sure (thought not 100% positive) that his cousins are Vincent "Jimmy" Caci and Gerald "Jerry" C Caci and that his cousins (Jimmy and the older Jerry) along with his brother Joseph got caught up in the Buffalo telemarketing fraud in mid 1990's. Is this Anthony J. Ollis that is in Lennert's Research on Rochester? According to Lennert he was arrested in 1936 for burglary and was a driver at times for Frank Valenti. If that is the case Ollis is likely an Anglicized form of Alessi as Polack Tony pointed out. Lennert writes: "*The Ollis family, whose spelling of their surname was originally Allesse or Allessi, has played an important role in the early annals of Rochester organized crime."
