Re: Podcast on Manfredi Mineo from B
It is unlikely the Morello Family was officially part of the Bonanno Family but more likely answering direct to the capo dei capi in the absence of an official boss. In the Commission era when a Family did not have an official boss, especially if there was any kind you of disagreement in the Family...

Re: Podcast on Manfredi Mineo from B
With D'Aquila's election, Clemente said DiGaetano stepped down as capo dei capi in 1912 and the May 2014 article says this is when D'Aquila ascended to the position. I'm not sure if Clemente explicitly said D'Aquila was capo in 1912 (maybe Rick and Angelo can confirm) but it does appear to be aroun...

Re: Podcast on Manfredi Mineo from B
Great podcast! Mineo is one of those characters that come off as interesting and it was great to learn more. About the Attardi article, I think you're overthinking it. Manfredi Mineo also went by the nickname Al Mineo. Sal is a nickname for Salvatore. Attardi likely misremembered Al as Sal a couple ...

Re: What do We Know about the Newark Family?
Here's what I could find: In the 1940 census, he's no longer listed as being in the building trade but as a merchant in the flour trade living in Brooklyn. In the 1950 census, he's listed as the "proprietor of a general merchandise brokerage company" living in Brooklyn. In 1955 he's arrest...

Re: What do We Know about the Newark Family?
The surname Calabrese seemed familiar to me. Nicolo's Schiro's business partner (or employee?) in his Real Estate business was named Vincent John Calabrese. Vincent Calabrese was also the witness on Schiro's 1923 passport application. However, I checked and it turned out to be just a coincidence. Vi...

Re: Bonanno - Newark Connections ?
Wait wait, never mind about Basto. It's way too early in the morning and I did my math wrong and there's nearly a decade differences in ages of the two men. I'm an idiot.

Here's page 4 from my above post: Quartuccios arrest The_Plainfield Courier_News_Tue__Jun_25__1935_ pg. 4.jpg I also have a question a John Quartuccio, who was the same age as the younger John Quartuccio was arrested along with Frank "the bear" Basto in 1974. Does anybody here know enough ...

Re: What do we Know about the 1928 Cleveland Meeting?
Does anyone know anything about the 2 on the right? https://theblackhand.club/forum/ext/dmzx/imageupload/files/3c18f5554cac64ee765487faf91d7bdc.jpeg John Gomsota and John Giacchi I couldn’t find anything on them so I’m guessing their names were misspelled. I don’t know where they from or their ages...

Re: What do we Know about the 1928 Cleveland Meeting?
Does anybody have a copy of the booking photo 32778? And if so, who was it? The image above is missing that number. If it's not one of the attendees, then the Giacchi mugshot could have come from a little bit later in the day and been mistakenly put with the others due to his Italian surname.

Re: 1920's Bonannos (Schiro)
Kind of a shot in the dark, but I was wondering if Catherine Rizzuto of Newark could have been related to these ones. She was born ~1873 in Camporeale and died Feb 9 1948 in NJ. She was married to Antonio Bevinetto, also from Camporeale. Their son Girolamo “Jerome” Bevinetto was a likely Newark Fam...

Re: 1920's Bonannos (Schiro)
B., If you look at the first page of Paolo Orlando's rejected 1914 naturalization petition: Paolo Orlando naturalization pg1.JPG You'll see a Charles Rizzuto listed as a witness. On this Charles Rizzuto's WWI draft registration you'll see he's a garment union official: Charles Rizzuto (1885) WWI dra...
