I remember reading somewhere that you could never be promoted from soldier > boss directly. Is there any truth to it?
Wasn't Madonna made a captain without a crew before he was made active boss?

Re: Why were the other families afraid of the Genovese?
Why would any made member of one of the other families be afraid of the Genovese in the first place? Surely as a made member the only one you should fear is your boss, as he is the one who can order your death? Respect is probably the better term here, tbh. John Pennisi mentioned that others looked ...

Re: Sit down Between Gravano,Franzese, Giuliani and Chazz Palminteri
The only interesting thing to come out of it would be if both Franzese and Gravano both dismiss Alite like "who is that guy?" DiLeonardo has a very interesting take on Alite and Gravano: basically Gravano legitimized him by confirming his status as a large Albanian gangster and then Alite...

Re: Sit down Between Gravano,Franzese, Giuliani and Chazz Palminteri
Tbh, I'd pick Franzese over Gravano in this sit down. I just think Franzese in general is smarter and more level-headed? Gravano is a street thug with some business sense, Franzese was basically a business guy who found himself on the street. Gravano seems bitter and angry that he gets that ''rat'' ...

Re: Favorite wiretap moments
I really liked Sonny Black and how he spoke on the phone towards Joe Pistone. Joe mentioned in his book that he was unlike other mafioso, actually down to earth and someone with whom he could have a regular conversation that didn't involve crime or the life. Ruggiero on the other hand comes across a...

Re: Unpopular opinion. Feds don’t know nearly as much about present day active LCN families as they did in the old day
Is there any actual proof that LCN has been building up and is regaining strength and the feds are worried? I know they've recovered from the batterings in the 80s and 90s etc... but yeah, in terms of manpower, projecting strength on the street etc.. the rackets and them being inventive and finding ...

I know the Genovese are considered top dogs and the Gambinos second... but in Don Carlo's heyday... weren't they right up there? He was such a smart and capable guy, almost like a chess master... always a step ahead, didn't he even fuck around with the Genoveses and got one of their bosses in troub...

Re: Johnny Alite and Junior In Forbes. Couple new photos.
I actually think Alite is way more misleading about how “in the loop” he was moreso than the violence he did. He says he knew the Castellano hit was going down. He used the word “we” to describe Fat Andy and the Gotti’s in terms of selling drugs. Like he was part of their operation, which wasn’t th...

You have to give it to Alite... he bullshitted his way into multiple books/media appearances etc... is there any other non-italian associate rat who ever got so much attention?! LMAO Henry Hill  Pogo Haha you got me there. And even then Henry Hill seems to be more accurate/less of a bullsh...

Re: New Theory podcast Pennisi part 3
Honestly I’m a mixed about Michael Franceze but I saw like a part of the video where they bash him and it made me cringe. Like they make a big deal about him not being a “tough guy” and him not killing people which I believe he’s done probably more that Alites confirmed body count since he was actu...

Re: Some Interesting Info about John Pennisi
Also a quick question if you do not mind; when you mention the Bonnano's and their number of made men, would you include the Canadian faction into those numbers (are they still a ''crew'' even or are they independent at this point? I know there the FBI says they still are) or basically only the NYC ...

Re: New Theory podcast Pennisi part 3
I think JP just comes across as a low-key guy, not some pussy as some have suggested here in this thread. If anything he seemed to be quite the historian on the mob/knew what went wrong in the past and how to conduct business to last longer on the streets. It seems he just grew more and more annoyed...
