Re: When did Sammy Gravano take over as Capo from Toddo?

I thought Gravano was pretty clear that after Castellano was killed, at the meeting where they made Gotti boss that Gravano and Angelo Ruggiero were the only soldiers there.

That's not really a war. It was really just the LA mob taking out Cohen's associates and Cohen no even knowing who was doing it. Is it a war if one side doesn't even realize they're at war?

Re: Mob wars

The closest Detroit has after the Crosstown war was in 1964-1965. And even that wasn't one. But Santo Perrone survives a car bombing that we now know due to wiretaps was the Detroit mob trying to kill him in 1964. But he survives and nothing else happens to him but Pete Lombardo who was part of the ...

Re: One case (hit) wonders

Gravano. Set the precedent. Publicity. Drew heat on every family. Bought LCN into the national spotlight. In my research over the years, I've been lucky enough to make contact with certain connected/involved people from NY (predominantly Brooklyn), some of them cooperating witnesses although most o...

Re: One case (hit) wonders

There wasn't much left of Cleveland after the big RICO case in the early 80s. The case against Local 210 where the government took it over turned the Buffalo family into a minor-league operation. The entire Stanfa faction was taken off the street by a sweeping RICO case, allowing the Merlino gang t...

Re: One case (hit) wonders

The big 1996 Rico case was essentially the end of the Detroit family. The 1984 Rico case wiped out the Rochester family. Pogo Yeah the 1996 Detroit case is interesting. If you want to go into if that's the end of the Detroit mob, I can see that argument, but the actual results are pretty mixed. Jac...

Re: One case (hit) wonders

Philly is easy with late 80’s Scarfo. That took out half of the made guys. Along those lines, I think of the 1994 case against the Stanfa organization. That essentially just wiped out everything that got set up between 1990 and 1994 and the Merlino faction just starts from scratch after that. The f...

Detroit: 1945: Lydia Thompson 1968: Judith Ruggirello 1968: Shirley and Susan Robison 1972: Agnes Brush 1976: Janice Stevens 1985: Colleen Marie Smith 1985: Camille Stabile These are the ones from Detroit that could conceivably have been killed by the Detroit mob or by fringe players in the mob. I think for Detroit the one that sticks out is Anthony Zerilli. If not for his dad kind of seems like he would have been a nobody. Caused all kinds of problems for the family. I'd put Michael Polizzi on that list too. And Nove Tocco.

Re: Johnny Roselli and the LA Family

One aspect of Roselli's life that I feel doesn't get very much attention is the car bomb murder of Gerald Covelli. Fratianno doesn't even mention it in his book and he spends a ton of time on Roselli. I always assumed Chicago did it, but there's always a part of me that wondered what LAs role may ha...

So it was just the top Three for L crew that were on bail? why wouldnt they just flee? They could all forfeit 5...

I thought most of them were on bail. I mean Castellano was killed while awaiting trial. Except for the ones that were already in prison for something else.

Re: Peter Tocco dies

His FBI file would be an interesting read. And now that he's dead we should be able to request it. Peter Dominic Tocco's involvement in the Detroit mob was always interesting. I'd never even heard of him until his bust in 2006 with Jackie Giacalone and by then I'd already been researching the Detroi...

Re: Gangland June 13th 2024

Does Ragano still think this is 1985? Everyone knows the feds don’t strap wires to people’s chest anymore lol it’s 2024 stripping someone down is pointless when checking for a wire now a days. I was thinking the same thing. With technology today, you're not going to find any kind of recording devic...
