It can't be John, since he wasn't born in the USA, Italian parents wouldn't name their son with an Anglo-Saxon name before even moving to America? American pronunciation of Italian names is so butchered. A lot of families have had their names mispronounced so many times that they've just adopted the incorrect ways. So true, Snakes. Valachi and Luciano come to mind. On those TV docs, Selwyn Raab always says Lucy ano instead of Looch e ano. Bug...

From my understanding, Vito comes from Vittorio which means Victor. So Vito or Vitto is another name for Vic.
