Dutch Schultz ally Sam Krantz

by Dwalin2014 » Sun Jul 05, 2015 6:21 pm

Some books about organized crime in New York go into details of the trial proceedings against the remaining racketeers of the former Dutch Schultz organization, specifically the branch specialized in restaurant rackets. It was initially headed by Jules Martin and after his murder, by Sam Krantz. While most were convicted and one pled guilty, Krantz and 2 other went on the run and still were at least in 1939. I read in the New York Times archive that one of them, William Kramer, was later apprehended and given a suspended sentence, but what about Sam Krantz? He was the main defendant, the boss of the whole operation, was he ever captured, was he killed while on the run or did he simply disappear and was never found?
