Sammy Gravano had his friend Joe Paruta inducted into the family when he was on his death bed from cancer. I think he died like a week later.

Sal Vitale testified that John Arcaro was inducted right before he died of cancer in 2001.

Made "For The Honor" question

I’m going to quote from an FBI file here and ask a question:

“On 5/18/65, this informant (AUGIE MANIACI) advised that on 5/11/65, four LCN members from Rockford, Illinois visited Milwaukee. Two of these, PHIL PRIOLA and CHARLIE VINCE, are old-time members long known to the CI. The other two, SEBASTIAN “KNOBBY” GULOTTA and FRANK CORRENTI, were introduced as members who were “made” during the previous week along with a third man, JOE DIGIROLAMO of South Beloit, Illinois. Informant confirmed that DIGIROLAMO is 74 years old and he otherwise described him as 5’7”, 175 pounds, dark hair and complexion, glasses, well-off financially. Informant also stated the Rockford visitors told him DIGIROLAMO was initiated into the LCN only “for the honor,” as he is too old to take an active part in affairs.”
DiGirolamo was a well-respected associate for the Rockford LCN having been born in Marsala, Sicily in 1891 and immigrated first to Detroit before settling in South Beloit, Illinois. He took many bootlegging arrests from 1921-1938 and it was noted in FBI files he was on friendly terms with the Rockford LCN. DiGirolamo died seven months later so my question is, has anyone else in the LCN been made for a similar reason- just “for the honor?”
