U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services was listed underneath U.S. Department of Homeland Security which doesn't make sense either since the subject was born in the United States.

Very interesting that it was referred to homeland since subject has been deceased since long before homeland was created.

I have never seen that happen or heard of it before today.

I'm curious as to why homeland holds the file of a 1980 deceased as opposed to it being in the FBI main indices and whatever other search parameters you gave. Very strange and hope to find clarification in the near future.

LCN FBI Files Question

by cavita » Sat Jan 11, 2020 5:33 pm

I had requested the FBI files of LCN member Joe Marinelli in September 2017 and they finally sent me the file last month. Just a few days ago I received a letter from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security stating they received the referral to their office originating from the FBI file I had requested. Apparently they will be processing this file through their office as well-
Has anyone received this type of letter after getting their FBI file requests and if so, are their records any different?
As a side note, I was quite disappointed with the Marinelli file I received. Here is an LCN member that's been dead since 1980 and I provided the FBI with dozens of obituaries of other members and associates in the hopes they wouldn't redact many names. Not only did they redact the names of the people I provided obituaries for, some names they left unredacted- names I didn't even provide obituaries for.
