I believe a Gambino guy in Longshoremen Local 1588 in Bayonne replaced a Genovese guy who was convicted at Digilio's trial.

Local 1964 is a union whos members work in warehouses, factories and garages. Allot are centered adjacent to Ports for storage for Trucking to ship it all out , refrigerated Warehouses etc. Its an odd union since the Teamster Unions back then typically muscled in on Trucking and warehouse facilities.

Thanks for the clarification B. . I had no idea Digilio was an associate with the Bonannos and then switched over , Then again I didn't know too much about Digilio other than probably his being with the Westside and his killing

You may be right about DiGilio being made. I don't remember exactly. Either way, he apparently pissed off the Genovese higher ups and ended up as fish food.

Here here!! I’ll never forget Greg Rago’s goofy celly Shawn always calling him “Mullberry Street”. One day Allie Boy was pissed about something and he heard Shawn call him that. He told him to shut the fuck up, the guy is from fucking Jersey!! Keep it the fuck up and I’ll send you back there right before I bomb the whole fucking street full of those jerkoff’s. It’s one of the few times I seen Bobby laugh out loud. The fucking guy is a stone!!!

If the hit went down as planned the world would be a much better place and 2 great men would be enjoying their twilight years with their families instead of dying in prison. I say 2 because I didn’t know Casella personally and he already died in prison. I heard he was a stand up guy.

I believe it was connected to when Local 1588 execs John DiGilio (a Genovese associate) and others were indicted. Most of them were convicted, and it opened up a leadership spot for Gambino associate. This naturally pissed off the Genovese family. I don't recall all the particulars but DiGilio fell out if favor too and ended being shot to death and dumped in a river. Anyway, this is partly what led to Manna's recorded restaurant conversation about killing the Gottis.

I didn't even know That some of the beef with the hit on Gotti by Manna was over the waterfront . I couldnt find anything else either regarding Loc.1964 after that 89 hit . I wonder who's in charge today over that local after the bribery arrest ?
