Luchese mobster cops to extortion charge but plays dumb about alleged loan from Mafia capo
A reputed Luchese mobster pleaded guilty Friday to extortion — but developed amnesia when the prosecutor tried to get him to admit he was collecting an unpaid $100,000 loan on behalf of a longtime Mafia capo.
Michael Capra, 52, was scheduled to go on trial next month in Brooklyn Federal Court along with his brother, Daniel, and reputed Luchese capo Carmine Avellino.
Capra admitted in 2010 he threatened to beat up two deadbeats with help from Daniel Capra and a now deceased cousin, Frank Bruno. The crimes were committed in Brooklyn and Staten Island, he said.
