Lots of Genovese guys in the Bronx. A lot of people from East Harlem, not just OC, moved to Throgs Neck and Country Club almost a generation ago now. Quiet Dom used to spend lots of time at a pizza place on either Westchester Ave or Buhre -- can't remember now. His modest (very modest) house was near Stadium Avenue. I think someone said he is inactive and on LI near his daughter now.
Balsamo Funeral home is nearby that pizza place on Westchester Ave. Ralph ran it before going away.
This is all outdated info but from when I used to live in the Bronx, these places were known for OC activity. Many have probably changed names and ownership.
- Meldish was known to either be in, shake down, or start fights at Alfie's Place.
- Vinny B's son used to own a beer garden place on Tremont near the Crosstown Diner, that then became maybe another bar that specialized in chicken wings and had a huge outdoor area.
- Louie's Seafood
- Another very small restaurant near Louie's on E. Tremont. Can't remember the name now. Had a red awning. Maybe a wine bar?
- i could rattle off a dozen bars known for having satellite racing, dice, joker poker, etc. They are everywhere in the Bronx.
- Luchese use to have a social club near Crosby and Tremont near a barber shop. this was active in 2013. not sure about now.
- hunts point had a genovese run gambling ring.
i know of a few other produce places and other businesses ran by guys, but they were never named publicly, so i'll refrain.
same goes with a major BX captain in the Genovese. He made the news once for a bust outside the Bronx, but he still lives there.
a lot of big name guys in the bronx are semi-legit. construction, real estate, car dealerships, auto shops, restaurants, marinas, food import, jewelry. Bronx/wc/nj guys work in tandem a lot. A guy could live in the Bronx, operate in Yonkers, have a legit business further north in WC, and report to someone in NJ.
this is a real half-cooked post i now realize. i'll post it anyway. apologies for any typos/errors. all of this is only east bronx stuff -- doesnt even touch what happens in Morris Park, Arthur Ave, closer to westchester, construction sites, etc.
