Re: Recent Deaths in Rochester Family

by tmarotta » Tue Mar 22, 2016 5:56 pm

Yet another alleged made member in Rochester died last month. Joseph Tiraborelli who was made infamous in Georgia Durante's book The Company She Keeps for shaking Georgia down for the cash gifts at her wedding. I did not previously include Joe Tiraborelli in my initial list because I heard he died a while ago, which was obviously not the case. Tiraborelli is actually the step son of Samuel Russotti as noted in his obituary. I am not sure if Tiraborelli was actually made. I know on Lennert's site, he lists him as a made member. Also when I lived in Rochester in the 1970s and 1980s people always said Sammy G made him. However, I have no proof so unlike the "street guys" on gangsterbb I am not going to promote my "street insight" as fact. I attached a copy of the obituary as well as an excerpt from Georgia's book about Tiraborelli and Tom Taylor shook her down at her wedding it is an amusing anecdote.

Thanks guys. I would vote against purchasing the Hammer Conspiracy. It is not worth the money. I am from Rochester so I had to go to the main library there to read it as they would not let me check it out. Allan May's American Mafia site as well as Lennert's blog on Rochester provide a lot more information and are quite frankly more interesting. BTW has anyone seen this chart on Rochester? The Hammer Conspiracy provides some additional gossip about some of the players (Rene P, Red Russotti, etc) but it falls was short. Georgia Durante, the ex Kodak Girl and wife of Rochester associate Joe Lamendola, provides some interesting information about Rochester in her book The Company She Keeps.

This is all wrong, also his other charts are wrong as well. He has guys that are not made as being made such as Anthony Chirico (who he says was a capo) and Angelo Misuraca who took over for John Fiorino (who was made) after Joe Sullivan killed him. I was wondering what you guys think about Frank Frassetto and Dominic Celestino being made? I have my doubts as all their indictments never mention them as being made. "Street talk" in western NY is that they are made but as I mentioned earlier in the post street talk also says the Buffalo Family has a crew in Rochester which I think is BS.

Here is a list of the made guys who are still alive:
1. Loren Piccarretto
2. Thomas Marotta
3. Donald Paone
4. Anthony Colombo
6. Joseph Trieste
7. Dominic Celestino
8. Joseph R. Rossi

Possibly Made:
1. Frank Frassetto
2. Reigo Marterano/80

Great post!
I'm very interested in the smaller families. Costenze Valenti was the son in law of Pittsburgh Capo Antonio Ripepi and brother in laws with John Bazzano Jr of Pittsburgh. Ripepi and LaRocca made the Valenti brothers in Pittsburgh and were instrumental in helping Frank and Stanley get the family up and running. The Piccarretta obit was s good read.

So apparently Giuseppe "Joe the Hop" Rossi has been dead since 2010. Here is his obituary. Less than ten guys left alive now.

I would agree with that. The Buffalo family itself is finished so it would be highly unlikely that there would be a Buffalo Crew in Rochester.

Thanks for the information Pogo. I have heard that Marotta is in poor health and is no longer active. Also I have heard that Trieste might be involved in some low level gambling but nothing official. Interestingly, in 2009 when Gambino associate Joseph Fafone was busted in Rochester, there were several associates indicted with Fafone who had also been indicted back in the 1980s along with Rochester LCN members. It seems as though there are still some associates active in Rochester. One person who has been mentioned in the Rochester media of having ties to gambling is Anthony Gingello Jr., the son of Rochester LCN associate Anthony Gingello, and nephew of deceased Rochester LCN member Salvatore "Sammy G" Gingello. Anthony Jr. was last arrested in the early 1990s for illegal gambling. Although there has been rumors for years about Buffalo LCN members operating in Rochester, I call BS on that. Any time any of these guys do anything wrong they get indicted such as Marotta for drugs, etc in 1998, Frassetto for drugs in 2006, Celestino and Frassetto for fraud in 2008, and Joe LoDolce for child molestation in 2010. The idea of Buffalo LCN members operating quietly in Rochester seems far fetched.

Indovino might be dead. He would be 92 if he were still alive. Another member who may still be alive is Reigo Marterano/80.

Doubtful. Maybe Marotta or Triesti but that is it. With the exception of Piccaretto (who doesn't live in Rochester any more) all of the remaining members are in thir 70s or older.
