"I love you to death like a son," Onofrio said loudly and clearly to John (J.R) Rubeo back on July 14, 2014. "You got a wife, a child, you got one coming," said Onofrio. "This life is not for a guy like you."
That´s what they usually say when they don´t want somebody in. If Rubeo was qualified to be let in, he would have been proposed.

fat joey lives in NC. Not sure where sal ended up. Prob FL.
I wonder if Joey and Sal get together for Xmas or communicate.
I don't see why not now? Joey has no argument now that he is a rat too? WTF does it matter now? They are both former dirtbag criminals that turned rat to get out of life in prison. There are so many rats living in FL now. No one gives a shit. Look at that Bent Finger Lou guy who ratted out Borgesi...doesn't he live openly right in NJ? These guys turned rat hiding their faces on TV doing Mob Doc's on the history channel..get the fuck out of here. No one cares its all for show. Especially Leonetti. Scarfo was gonna kill him from behind bars etc. after 1991 no one on the outside would even buy Scarfo a pack of gum let alone kill Leonetti for him. Its all bullshit. John Mamone lives openly in South FL after cooperating and getting out of jail. Lives in the same town down there. Everyone knows it. No one fucks with him. You really don't need WPP anymore. I think guys go into for the $$$ the government gives them to be honest.

Sal was on the outs with Joe for years prior to flipping so I doubt it.

Connecticut soldier Ralph 'Ralphie Sant' Santiello was inducted in 2014/15, so it could very well be him.

That's from Good Will Hunting. The bar scene when Ben Afflect is trying to pick the chick up, when the douche comes over and tries to embarrass him.
It wasn’t Affleck it was Matt Damon’s character.
Neg. Afflecks character originally tried to pick her up. And was the focus of the Michael Bolton clones mockery. Damon came in and destroyed the fuck.
You are correct, sir. Great movie.

Capeci is in his mid-70s and has always had integrity in a field full of journalists who choose sensationalism over accuracy and authors who outright lie. He has called out liars publicly (remember that old Charlie Rose episode?) and there's a reason gangsters themselves read his articles and some big names have written him letters asking for him to set the record straight. His work has bridged a gap between audiences that include gangsters and their relatives, law enforcement, and random guys like us.

Some articles, especially these days, are boring. He isn't the best historical researcher and he makes mistakes but he has always tried to represent the truth in his articles and books. He is willing to admit mistakes when he makes them, even when it discredits one of his most popular books (Murder Machine) or contradicts earlier articles he's written.

These topics that he's not covering... what do you think is going on? Do you think he has new, insider information and he's choosing not to share it even though it would obviously benefit his work (and business)? Do you believe he is purposely withholding interesting information for some nefarious reason? I honestly want to know the answer to that. Or if he simply doesn't have anything new or interesting to add to these topics... do you want him to repeat what newspapers have already written? Do you want him to stop publishing Gangland articles altogether?

TommyGambino wrote: Fri Jul 27, 2018 5:38 am Capeci apologists are strange, talking about people being stingy for not buying a fucking mafia article that 9/10 times is garbage  proper fucking weirdo's out there.
that may be so but IMO he has been the best and most consistant NY journalist to cover the mob.

no one else is really writing about it. hes the only game in town basically. unless you yourself want to sift through daily news articles (which refer to any guy within a 5 mile radius of an associate as a "boss") after an arrest, prowl the FBI's site for press releases, or develop relationships with the small number of defense lawyers left in NY doing LCN cases, along with people at the courts, cops, former / failed LCN associates, etc..in order to get info. me? id just rather him do all of that, and Ill read about it. Capeci's sources are heavily "law"' based (I personally know 2 lawyer who speak with him and have given info) but he has great sources.

To that end, I wouldnt be surprised in the next month or so if we read an article in GL stating that a certain arrest that happened in early 2018 is going to be taken to trial...involving a family that never, ever, ever goes to trial (and has allegedly clipped someone for trying to goto trial) . i would almost bet on it...

I would also bet next week or the week after, after the chips are done falling and more info surfaces, he'll write about the big current events that happened this month (colombo bust & that bronx shooting). matter fact i wouldnt be surprised in an upcoming column if he drops previously unknown to the public background info on those colombo guys

Capeci, in combination with some of the researchers and posters on this very forum, are essentially the only places for info about LCN.

at the very least, GL gives us something to talk about each week..and sometimes acts as a jumping off point into other discussions, more research by guys here, etc..

never understood the Capeci hate or at this point, even the criticism. im just grateful hes still writing each week (although unless he comes back from the dead, i never want to really hear Gotti's name again)
