Was this even mentioned in Underboss? I feel like i've read that book a million times but for the life of me can't remember ever hearing this.
Yeah the whole bit about Sammy and Sally Albanese convincing Toddo to make his son is in there but nothing about Gravano giving up his spot for Charlie so Im not sure where HK got that from but basically everything else is there.
I misremembered it. Looked in Underboss and at page 85 it says Sammy and Charlie were made together. At first, according to the book, Toddo did not want to make his son but Sammy and Sally Albanese convinced him to do it. Sorry about the confusion.

Standard procedure as always. They will be there snapping pictures and then show them for every CI they have to find out their names. This in combination with car egistrations. Classical pre investigation that is still in use today to gather information even if it's believed that not many wiseeguys actually shows up but mostly wannabees and mourning relatives.

Toddo Aurello was gravano's mentor, Charlie Aurello his son recently passed.
