with the opiate epidemic they are going super hard on opiates and dealers.
when that actor, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, ODed I guess a bunch of dealers switched from Heroin to coke in NYC bc they said the cops were busting all dope dealers.
new York is very weird when it comes to heroin dealers these days and for the last 10 years. In new York, the dope is allready packaged and bagged and stamped when its sold. from dealer to dealer even. people either get a "brick" which is 5 bundles (50 bags) or a "sleeve" which is 10 bundles. it's un heard of for dealers to buy OR sell heroin in grams. or a 8 ball, etc.
because of this, MOST HEROIN STREET DEALERS, are users themselfs. it's un like anywhere else in the country. heroin is also socially acceptable in NYC for the most part.
other places like in LA, heroin is a straight up 9-5 job for Mexicans who quit after 6pm
