What is this, the Navy? Typically, a boss has two options in retirement: death—natural or not—or the can. In the situation it’s the latter, they still have their fingers on the pulse, which has been proven true down through the years
What about John DiFronzo not dead or in prison. There are alot of guys near 90 or above that are not active. I don't know whether they call it retirement or not. As with bosses saying their retired, but really still the top boss there are examples. I don't believe they can't retire, they younger members probably like that. Whether they use the word retired, inactive,or on the shelf for that I don't know. I'm sure they are members for life.
