There might be something to that. After the 2011 Colombo bust, there was a government memo that talked about the Gambinos and Luccheses meeting about who would possibly take control of Concrete Workers Union Local 6A.
Do you have a link to that?
I don't recall if it was discussed here or the old RD forum but it was from a leaked June 2011 FBI memo (same wikileaks that gave us the info about Joey Merlino's associates in south Florida) that said a representative from the Gambino family had met with a Lucchese captain and soldiers to discuss the Gambino's desire to control Local 6A.
With your info, I was able to find the link by searching wikileaks:

No problem bro. I've never thought to use wikilinks until now, so you can thank Wiseguy also.

It was a lawsuit and LCN involvement, if any, isnt clear yet.

DC16 which is the umbrella is a Luchese dominated District Council and Labarbera is related to Big Mike Labarbera who was in control and indicted for Laborers local 66 years back. Gary Labarbera was a big shot years ago in Teamsters local 282 i think during the jailing of Gotti and Gravano who he reported to

Interesting if true.

Someone has to get the coffee! And with a huge site like that it's no easy task. If you trust a couple of apprentices to get 30 guys coffee you're going to end up with a pissed off crew.

yeah, I found him living in East NY in 1940 with his fam of course. He had a brother Joseph b. 1933 or 1932 so thats probably the year they were thinking of. The fam lived at 243 schenck ave brooklyn.

He was born in 1929. Joseph Scopo was born in 1946 and Ralph Scopo Jr. was born in 1948. Seems he was a teen dad.

AlexfromSouth wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 2:28 pm Don't understand how tha Scopo fam works. Is Ralph Scopo sr the one that has two sons? One Joseph b. 1946 and one Ralph jr b. 1949? Can someone elaborate please. Thanks
Yes, that's the Scopo fam. Ralph Sr. was convicted with Carmine Persico in 86, his son Joseph was the Orena faction underboss, and Ralph Scopo Jr. maintained control of the concrete unions. He died in 2013 and avoided trial in the big 2011 bust. The coffee-boy scheme here mirrored the one that he was involved in, and I think it's the same union.

baldo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 11:14 am These numbers are staggering. They mentioned a construction worker who pulled in more than $600K. That's more than many bankers/doctors make.
And it's that very thing that makes sweetheart deals with the mob so attractive for some contractors. Make a payoff and/or provide some no-show jobs and they save a ton of money and increase their profit margin since they are allowed to hire non-union workers at a fraction of the cost and not contribute to union pension and healthcare funds.
Exactly, this shows that the Colombo's still have ways to make big $ even though they have been reduced in size of late.
Also shows why the NYC families will continue on. These rackets are so deeply entrenched, seems they will always be
there for them.

this was a Colombo scheme the article is referring to?
A coffee boy-related scheme was part of the big Colombo indictment in 2011 and facilitated through their control of the Concrete Workers Union. You can read about it at the article below.

Even though Scopo was removed, and it remains to be seen the level of ongoing mob control of the union, that doesn't necessarily mean all the shenanigans have stopped.
Thank you, sir. my question I guess is the bust this topic was started about - was it lcn related?
