mordaga is a prime example of why NJ is considered the Nations Arm Pit. He had Lagano killed either by doing it himself or just outing him at the right moment to the right people. Also mordaga homes and life style have never fit his income of the last few decades in LE.
I agree. a 1.3 million dollar home. and to top it off he recently put it into irrevocable living trust which is a huge red flag. Meaning he thinks he is going to jail and doesn't want to lose the fruits of his illegal activities. You really think he could have went Mafia Cops on Lagano? It is possible he did the work himself. Lagano would have went to a meet with him. And if I were in Mordaga's position I sure as hell wouldn't trust any wiseguys this day in age to whack out Lagano and keep it a secret to the grave, I would've done the work myself and told nobody. Maybe that is why he is still free a decade later.
I doubt very much he contracted the hit to someone. He either pulled the trigger himself OR intentionally put it out there that Lagano was an informant and would testify. So anyone with crimes tied to Lagano over the last couple decades could have done it. Also Lagano was just showing up for work when he was shot in the back of the head getting out of his car in the parking lot. So the killer was lying in wait for Lagano to show up for work. Didn't help Lagano that he had the same routine every day/week. Could have been the Genovese Family and could have been the NY Luchese crew for which Lagano was part of . Or could have been Mordaga himself. Paul Mancuso was an informant too and was arrested with Lagano in the this Gambling bust. I guess they had different handlers or Mancuso would have been outed as well. But people had already suspected Mancuso was a dry snitch by this point because he was busted several times and escaped jail time on each Gambling bust. Mancuso has been tied to many gambling rings ..working off his debts as a bookie. He was always in the hole. Allot of these guys arrested are in the hole and owe bigtime. They are just working off the debts.
