Oh yeah, that was the one that included Vincent Basciano Jr.

If you go back over the last 20 years, the main activity in the west (Nevada, Arizona, California)and is the mob's bookmaking networks that extend from the east.

I would add that in 2011 it was reported that both Eurasian and Asian criminal enterprises were a bigger investigative priority in Las Vegas than the LCN.

Great find Strocco .

If that type of sports book is being run then there is very likely some wise guy affiliated book and loan sharking activity going on. Doubt its a monster like the good ole days but a $10m + sports book and a sizeable shark book to tag along wouldn’t be surprising . Possibly enough to support a smaller crew . Very interesting

Thanks again guys, now I can understand the term, and it's a shame that there is no more mob in Las Vegas.

One article from the late 1990s said there were only about a dozen mob members living in Nevada. I imagine it's dropped a lot since then. After the "Operation Thin Crust" case, the Blitzstein murder, and the escort service case in the 1990s, there's not much else to speak of. There was the Crazy Horse Too raid in 2003. You could probably count all the made guys left in the entire west part of the country on two hands.

In addition to what Snakes added a 'racket' is normally organised crime or an ongoing criminal enterprise IE criminal conspiracy. You wouldn't say a bank robbery was a racket but you could say credit card theft by a criminal organisation was.

"Racket" is a term used for any type of criminal activity. A racket could be gambling, loan-sharking, prostitution, labor corruption, etc.

I understand, thank you, some questions that may seem like a bit of a beast, but what does racket mean? In my country, we do not use that word, so I always get confused when I see it.

Another question, have some good documentary about the golden age of the gambling and about Las Vegas too?

You would think that mob bookies could offer better odds than the legal ones in Vegas, in that they don't have to pay taxes..

Don't they still control some gambling machines there and loansharking?

its dead. you had some guys living out there like most recently Stango. But there were not really running any rackets out there. The casino are untouched by the Mob. Its all Corporate now. In 1997 they were taking over a escort service. Sports Gambling out there is all in the casino's.

Guys, Mafia still have any involvement or any people in Las Vegas? The last news I found was an assassination in 1997.
