Re: Jerry Capeci and his sources

In 2004, there was apparently a rumor within the Genovese family that Dom Cirillo's driver had provided info to Capeci. Peter Peluso, a lawyer closely tied with the Genovese family who passed on messages between the leadership, was recorded talking about Capeci's report that Mario Gigante would run the family following his supervised release, and how this info originally came from a conversation between Mario Gigante and Buster Ardito. Peluso discussed this with Ardito, who said that "the big guy" (supposedly Ernie Muscarella) wanted to kill Cirillo's driver for leaking the information. Capeci refused to say one way or another who the source was and said he was glad that Cirillo's driver was unharmed.

Wasn't linn devecchio one of his big sources during the columbo war in the early 90's ?

Man, you would think certain people work for the feds.

Or at least they wish.

They arent perfect and are crooked and immoral.

a lot of his info comes from lawyers. one thing he got 'wrong' in recent memory was a few years ago (before he was hit with the meldish murder) when Chris Londonio was busted sitting in an Acura in The Bronx with Pasquale Maiorino, holding a gun, Capeci ID'ed him as a Bonnano solider with Maiorino as his capo. i wouldnt be surprised if THAT came from LEO and LEO had it wrong at that specific time

Yes but the debate was over who was the acting boss, Cefalu or Cali.
Yes he has Pete Gotti as official boss and Cefalu as acting boss Cali as underboss, But has twice came out with articles saying Cali was the new acting boss, only to find out from different sources that Cefalu is still acting boss. He also said a panel of John Gambino, Juliano and Guirino were a buffer between the Administration and the Capos. I believe he also flip flopped on the Cefalu being Official Boss too, originally stating the Gotti era was over then saying that P. Gotti was still official boss.

Guys that have flipped must love reminiscing with someone who has current info so I'm sure he gets a lot of emails and phone calls from the good old boys that miss the life and want to talk.

Law enforcement must use him to get shit going how you say ( tickle the wire ) and they in turn feel obligated to share some good stuff.

JeremyTheJew wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2018 12:32 pm And when he said Amuso was boss, he did NOT say "figurehead" or "in name only" is that correct?

basically implying that Amuso did have some say in matters, unlike Gotti who is just in name the boss. for whatever reason.
Correct. He's never said the same thing about Amuso. The idea that Amuso is also just a figurehead has been merely the opinion of some posters.

Who are these people precisely? Sounds like the same idiots of forums and facebook groups, as you describe, would say such a thing.

Capeci has stated in several interviews he doesn’t have any made guys as sources. He did in the 80’s/90’s have one guy I believe, but no buttons now nor for many years.

So I’d assume the vast majority of his info comes from LE.

Even though peter gotta is supposedly boss in name only, I wonder if he or his immediate family receive any sort of tribute?

i always wondered if in Rob The Mob, Ray Romano character was Capeci.
Yes, he said Peter Gotti is still the official boss of the family though it's in name only.
