Searching for my luparelli book. Joe fish and Sonny pinto did work for matty the horse. Fish was in Florida for a time, his book goes into detail about biellos murder.

Biele was identified by informant as a captain in the early 1960s who had lost favor with the Genovese bosses. Already in 1962 he was targeted to get hit, for some reason not fully explained. However, Tommy Lucchese was successful in convincing the Genoveses not to go go ahead with the hit and it seems the bosses were content with letting him transfer to another Family. Some accounts puts him transferring to the New England Family but it´s uncertain if this ever happened. There were also talks about him going with Joe Bonanno, who he seems ta have been close with, visiting him occasionally in Arizona.

Biele was "judged and condemned in his own Family" according to informants. Maybe he started to inform on the Genovese Family after being shelved? He was killed a day after a police/FBI report on the Mafia´s infiltration of south Florida was released. The report was compiled following a six month investigation identifying numerous of Mafia members with interests in south Florida. Who knows...maybe Biele had some part in compiling this report? A newspaper account claims that Biele had been talking with detectives which was confirmed by Gov. Claude Kirk. No confirmation on what exactly the talking was about though. Following Biele´s murder, there were additional murders down in Florida of people connected to organized crime. Another interesting thing is that Biele was killed in March 1967, when Lucchese (his protector) was dying and probably was too weak to go and act in his support.

I should add that I have my own theory on the lack of historical information to come out of Barone's co-operation (despite the fact he was one of the few Genovese informants, and he also had history dating back to the 1950s). Two of Barone's closest associates, James Vanderwyde and Douglas Rago, were still alive when he began naming names. They were involved with many historical murders. I believe he was protecting them, which is why he probably played up the senile act when it came to details. I assume the FBI probably let it slide because they just wanted Gigante, Peter Gotti etc.

I have seen some of George Barone's FBI 302s and he confirms his involvement. The FBI was probably only concerned with his knowledge of recent stuff, so they pretty well skip over it. Barone said that the order came directly from Fat Tony Salerno, but no reason is provided. Barone was also pretty crusty at this point and numerous times he kept saying "I didn't ask questions!" when the FBI asked him to elaborate.

The consensus is that Biello was killed because he was part of the group along with Joe Colombo, that warned Tommy Lucchese and Gambino that Joe Bonnano was looking to make a move on them and take over the Commission. Bonnano waited years till Biello was comfortable, and had him killed once he got successful with his club, etc. Allegedly it was carried out by George Barone. Have also heard Fat Tony Salerno was involved in the planning.

This is the story iv heard, but to piggyback off of Raven's original post, does anyone know if this theory is concrete? Or if there is another story as to why Biello was killed? (and by who, if not Barone?) Some insight would be appreciated, thanks..

Is the consensus on here that Biello was killed by George Barone? I just reread the Peppermint twist book by Dick Cami and was wondering if anyone knew more about that than what the book says. I've read other places that Biello was a rat but Cami goes out of his way to deny that. (He was Biello's son in law so his opinion may be biased).

I found a file on MF that says a Profaci soldier named "Fred Pace" was the maître D at the Peppermint Twist club in Miami. I'm thinking this is Pasquale “Fred Speth” Amorosa, but I've only seen him listed as a Genovese member (not sure if he was).

Also the book says Biele had a younger brother who was made but that Johnny wouldn't sponsor him so he found someone else. I've never seen anything else that said his brother was a member of any family.

Any insights anyone has would be cool.
