Well what's particularly weird about Monazym's involvement is that he doesn't appear to have gone to trial. And I don't understand why. And the Detroit Free Press never even mentions that Monazym was a suspect in the murder. Just Viola. But Monazym got 3 1/2 - 10 years for larceny in 1932. He escapes from Jackson Prison in 1935, and he was part of a bank robbery in May of that year. He doesn't seem to get caught until February 1942. So he would have been involved in the 1941 murder while a fugitive. But I don't know if he was convicted of the bank robbery and if so how much time he received. But I think he was convicted because he's in prison in 1944. The Free Press doesn't mention Monazym again until the 1960s where he's listed as a numbers associate of the Detroit mob. So I'm unclear as to why Viola got convicted and Monazym never went to trial.

I just had a few notes on the hit because i thought maybe it was cleveland related , I had charlie monazym and viola as the shooters , and i jotted something down about a bank robbery. I can relook see what i can come up with

I believe viola left a fingerprint on the whisky glass that may explain why he was convicted and not Charlie, as apparently the two shooters had a drink at Munsese bar why they waited for him

Yes I do get that. I was thinking along the lines of someone coming across an article explaining why Charles Monazym wasn't charged, an article hypothesizing on connections between Munsene and Pete Licavoli. A government document someone may have gotten in a FOIA request that may mention the murder. A sharing of information. Like me sharing that apparently Charles Monazym was possibly the second gunman and he is known in Detroit. Something that was new to me. It's a forum. It's a seventy-six year old murder. Not looking for someone to admit doing it for so and so. Everyone involved is dead. Just general forum stuff.

James Munsene Murder Question: Warren OH 1941

This is for the Ohio people. I'm a Detroit person. So on March 24th 1941 Warren racketeer James Munsene is murdered in a restaurant along with his nephew Felix Monfrino. There are two shooters. In 1945 it's said there are two suspects. I have news articles saying that one of the suspects is Thomas Viola who I've come across as a hired gun who spent a lot of time in Detroit. I don't have an article saying who the second person is, but there's a 2007 thesis I came across that lists the second suspect as Charles Monazym. But apparently Monazym was never charged while Viola got convicted for murder. Now I know Monazym as a robber in the 30s and 40s who becomes an important numbers and gambling associate of the Detroit mob(primarily the Giacalones) in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. But I didn't realize he was doing hits when he was younger. So does anyone know why Monazym wasn't charged or why/who had Munsene killed in 1941? I'm not sure if this is a Detroit mob murder or at least a Licavoli organization killing, or if it's something Detroit did for Cleveland. Or if it's something else all together. But Monazym being there is just really weird and nothing I ever would have expected. I'm curious on other people's thoughts.
