 But it's not like they go around with baseball bats or try to strangle people personally....What does physical strength have to do with it? If the judges reason that way, then they think only big muscular "gorillas" pose threats? A boss can order a hit even if he is paralyzed or in a wheel chair. Even Sonny Franzese at his 100-year-age could order a hit if he wanted, but it's not like he poses a physical threat himself.

Junior has thirty years on Vinny, and at this juncture, wouldnt pose the physical threat Basciano could. Junior did order the murder of the prosecutors after his conviction, which the Carini's fucked up, and ultimately got them clipped. They found the supposed hit list Basciano drew up during his trial which was one of the main reasons he was shipped out to Ad-max after his trial.

He's been at Butner-Med for awhile now, and I don't recall reading about any bruhahas he was involved in.

Neither has Basciano obviously, but his charges were more recent, but thanks to CiCale and Massino, the order to murder Pizzolo was drawn right to him.

Lastly, I cant recall the victim, but one of the best quotes of all time came from a hit Vinny pulled the trigger on. Guy was out walking his dog, a van pulls up, out jumps Vinny with a 12 gauge:

Guy: "Oh no...!"
Vinny: "Oh yes...!"

Although he must have calmed down time ago already, since there are no bodies, or have they moved him in a maximum security prison after the Colombo war?
He's in medium security at Butner in North Carolina
Strange, they are keeping Basciano in a maximum security, and Persico in a medium? If even Persico has "calmed down", Basciano was never THAT violent. Sorry, an off-topic question: Scarfo was in maximum security when he died? Because if he wasn't then it's really weird casual bodies didn't continue to drop, if it's true he wanted revenge until he died, I think there were some quotes from him at least until several years ago? Don't remember 100%, I think one of the forum members even quoted a reply to a letter he sent Scarfo, but maybe it was an old one, don't remember the year it was written.

Probably 3 new bosses in NY in the next 10 years with 3 of the imprisoned bosses getting up there in age.

Persico lawyer tried to tried to convince the judge that since the Persico had been convicted before the law that required to serve 70% -80% of the total penalty,Persico having doneover more than 30 years in prison, he had the right to ask the parole. But the judge rejected the Persico's lawyer objection.

His age and associated physical fragility are not the threat to society. It's clearly his position as boss of a mafia crime family and his ability to command others to commit violence on his behalf.

If demonstrated, and most likely would be done with ease, he would obviously be demed a danger and denied parole.

Ever.
I'm not really an expert on parole laws and all that but I feel that if the Feds had a valid reason to keep him behind bars they would have said so instead of screwing around and postponing parole hearings. Besides, I think it might be hard in this day and age to convince a judge/jury that this 83-year-old is a danger to society.

A lot of guys will shit their pants. He is never getting out but if by some chance he does I imagine he will continue as Boss. Similar to how John Riggi did even with his advanced age and health problems.

Every time more news comes out about Carmine Persico it looks to me as if his release is going to be within the next year or two. How likely is it that he's going to jump back into the life and resume his activities as boss - also, is he still giving orders from prison even now? I know that Little Allie Boy was behind Ralph Deleo's promotion to boss, I'm guessing either Allie or Carmine is behind Andy Russo.
