They grew up in Canarsie. All you had to say was 'the twins' and people knew who you meant.

I never said it was.

I never said they have.

I was simply stating there is more to the violence than purely sentencing terms.
I agree. My post was more in reference to what Teflon john said.

Whilst criminal penalties undoubtedly play a part in the violence I think its only one of several factors.

Also in play are control of a multibillion dollar cocaine pipeline through Montreal. When those sort of numbers are in play, you're going to get violence no matter the law. NY's 5 families have nothing comparable.

Additionally, 'your' Italians are more westernized. 3rd, 4th and even 5th generation. Over here they are generally much less removed. often 1st or 2nd generation. And as we're all aware the mother country is to Canada what Canada is to NY when it comes to violence and murder.

So whilst people point their fingers at criminal penalties being responsible for the violence in Canada, it is only part of the story.
There wasn't much in the way of violence for years until Project Colisee took enough Rizzuto guys off the street to cause a power vacuum big enough for others to make a move.

Drugs are definitely more of a primary racket for Canadian mobsters than even those in NY. But that, or the relative lack of violence, hardly means the mob is extinct in NY by comparison. What has kept the NY families going is their recruiting pool and diversification regardless of them being marginalized in the drug trade. Furthermore, while I don't recall seeing any solid figures, I doubt anywhere in Canada (or the country as a whole for that matter) has the numbers (members and associates) NY does.

Compared to what's going on in Canada,LCN in the U.S. is extinct.

There is another Carmine Carini that is a Gambino associate/soldier. Not sure if its the same guy.
HK or anyone clarify?

I know the Carini's sister. I used to work with her and we became friends. She is the sweetest, kindest, and most genuine person. She was a hard working, single Mom. I actually feel really bad for her. I recently reached out to her and expressed my sincere condolences to her and her family over this.

Carmine Carini, 35, was discovered in an inlet near his Mill Basin home Saturday, three days after he was last seen, said Robert Boyce, NYPD chief of detectives.

Carini was beaten and stabbed, and was attached to five-pound of bag of drywall compound in the mob-style hit, officials said. Investigators do not yet have a motive in the case, according to Boyce.

"We have a long way to go," Boyce said of the investigation.

The victim, who had served five years in state prison after a robbery conviction in 2015, is the son of Carmine Carini Sr., a reputed Gambino crime family associate who used to live in Eltingville, according to Advance records.

"His father had the O.C. ties, not him," Boyce said during a press conference Tuesday.
