According to local LE this guy was also tied to Biogenesis and Alex Rodriguez. It sounds like from the article they were going to try and blackmail Rodriguez.
Bit players in A-Rod dope scandal sentenced on unrelated drug charges
A Boca Raton cigar bar owner with ties to minor players in the Alex Rodriguez doping scandal was sentenced on Thursday to 32 months in prison on unrelated drug charges. Frank Fiore, 60, of Parkland sold counterfeit Xanax and Viagra to undercover cops, federal prosecutors said. The owner of Havana Nights Cigar Bar and Lounge in Boca Raton, Fiore met with mobsters and asked undercover officers to kill one person and break the legs of his brother-in-law, they said. Also convicted in the investigation of a drugs and weapons ring, were Gary Lee Jones, 55, of Boca Raton, and Anthony Carbone, 31, of Deerfield Beach. U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra previously sentenced both to 24 months in prison for their roles in the operation. Jones and Carbone, a Boca Raton tanning salon owner, played small parts in the investigation of Rodriguez in connection with documents that showed the Yankees slugger had been a regular customer of Biogenesis of America, a now defunct anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables.
