Later, some guys started putting rolling metal fencing or gates on places, as it makes a shit load of noise and is virtually impassable to a crackhead snatch and grab guy looking for a few bucks.
We had a place in the Bronx that was shuttered up with gates tighter than a mouse's ass and heard the NYPD Vice guys were coming and hitting places, so we hurriedly closed the place, pulled the gates down, then stood around on the corner. The cops roll up and see the gates, and don't even bother getting out of the cars, so we think all is well and we start to chuckle. Within 20 minutes ESU rolls up with a welding truck and cables. The Lieutenant comes over to us and says, "Look, we have a warrant, so either open the place up, or we're gonna pull the gates off with the welders and cables". We reluctantly complied since we didn't want to lose a couple grand worth of gating. They poked around for a while, took the machines, arrested the guy behind the counter and were gone.
In the end, if the FEDS want to get into a place, they're gonna get in.
Was this a social club? If so what family?

Yes, Thank you both very much. I was wondering if they later put cameras inside the Club to monitor from off premises but I guess based upon what both of you said, it doesn't really matter.

Confed, like Bruno said ,if it was the moral squad that would go to gambling clubs, they had search and seizure.nothing you could do, they did not bug places, the state rarely bugged , the feds have all types of tech, no sense trying to counter, the whole thing is these are just hang out meeting places, cards, bullshitting, not to go there and say lets plot a murder and do it around a table ,oops forgot to tell gotti that ,and a few others, no way anyone goes to the club to plot serious crimes. meet there take a walk or make up a place to talk later on. my opinion .hope that helps

Bronx, in your opinion, what kind of security do the different Families in New York use to SECURE their social club when it closes?
Is there a video camera inside the Club where a Mob guy responsible can see what may be happening when no one is there?
How did they secure the Club years ago?
I remember reading somewhere on more than one occasion when the Feds were able to break into a particular Social Club and plant an electronic listening device.

Keep in mind these guys didn't work and had to spend their time somewhere. And hanging out playing cards with your buddies was a pretty attractive way to kill your days.

hello CN, just part of the everyday routine, like going to work, hanging around like any other mens club just most of them were involved in some type of criminal activity. sure the agents or state guys were around taking pictures , always had to believe they were wired up, some guys got lazy and got caught talking on tape, for the most part on the whole very few guys were pinched from these tapes just bullshit chatter about nothing criminal, castellano blabbed in his house, jerk made that a meeting place every saturday. salerno screwed up, corralo in the jag, gotti ruggierio, loved to blab all the time anyplace, why ? craziness. there was a state investigator kenny macabe..everyone knew him he went to every club .every wedding every wake every everything..taking pictures it became , oh kenny's here . he would not hide .sit right in front, say hello, talk to guys walking by. security was " sign on wall place is bugged " lol. bills were paid from the cut from card games..hope that helps.
