Who/What are the sources that list Michael as Consigliere? Just curious, I've never seen it.
I believe The fbi or the Crime commission listed genovese as the consigliere in the early 80’s
Yes,I seen those report too. I can only speak of my personal experience with Jo Jo, Charlie and Michael. Michael was definitely Boss after John passed.

Hey pal, hope all is well in your neck of the woods...Per the FBI files, I have seen this over and over again which always confused me a bit. Prior to 1957, Pittsburgh's structure was murky in details. Mannarino strictly ran New Kensington and while later on he was Underboss, he and LaRocca operated separately. LaRocca's right hand man was Michael, without question. Because Pittsburgh operated similar to a Camorra business model with territory bosses, I can see why informants reported that other men in the outfit were bosses...because technically, they were over their respected territory. Interesting that Giuseppe Pici, AKA Joe Pici and Joe Peachy, was operating in Turtle Creek before he was deported to Italy in 1946. He was born in Bovino, Foggia, Puglia, in 1911. In Italy he became a big heroin trafficker and was allegedly connected to Lucky Luciano. According to one report he was the uncle of Frank "Chick 99" Callace - a Lucchese guy later killed by Joe Valachi and friends - but I doubt it. Callace was born in Corleone around 1900, so not physically possible. Anyway, according to the Pittsburgh Press, after the Volpe brothers were killed Pici got into the white slavery trade, as it was called.

It appears Jo-Jo was spouse to be the successor , he was already out of prison when larrocca died . Jo-Jo was vetoed by the family for various reasons and they elected/promoted mike genovese boss ,

I believe John actually upped Mike before he died. Regardless, When JoJo got out the joints in W,VA. were already closed and he was on probation. Thus he was no longer the "big" earner. Gambling across the board was down especially with the mills closing. Michael, because of Chuckie Porter, represented the best source of income, drugs.

After the Cleveland chart(s) are concluded, whenever that is, we can resume a Pittsburgh project if you so feel inspired, I'd do a 70's or 80's one since that seems to be the most concrete era and could procure most of the photos. As for all things pre 1930 Pittsburgh, per usual I don't feel comfortable discussing it but I will admit that I'm buried in the 1920's and had to take a break, if only for my own sanity's sake.
Gotcha my friend. I would rather not discuss Pittsburgh pre-1930 as well, I'm keeping that intel to myself. 1932 to 1968, I couldn't even begin to guess if the LCN structure was even in place. I could give an educated guess from 1950-1968. LaRocca was Amato's Underboss, that much I know. If I were guessing, it wouldn't shock me if Louis Volpe was Amato's Consigliere. He was from Wilmerding/Turtle Creek, close to Amato and was a regular at Amato's house. But I also wouldn't be shocked if there was no consigliere in the 1930's-40's.

You are 100% correct. By the time the 1960's began, Big John was spending 6 months a year in Pompano Beach with Joe Regino and Charlie Imburgia, the day to day operations were left to Frank Amato, Michael Genovese, Kelly Mannarino and Tony Ripepi. Michael leaned heavily on Jo Jo but Pecora had his hands full with all the casinos/rackets in West Virginia
