I gathered you were poking fun but your point had legs.
HK's post was more interesting and revealing than Capeci's/Anastasia's complete article.
Capeci has the title 'News' and charges money for it, HK kindly offer's his more extensive research, for free.

I think Capeci forgets he's not still writing for the NY Daily and just doesnt understand his audience is highly specialized now.

Mangano´s bread and butter was gambling. He was a known bookmaker. He had numerous arrests on gambling charges back in the day, so he didn´t exactly fly under the radar. He also operated a New York City clothing store, Resource Sales Inc, a store that was formerly operated by Funzi Tieri. In 1981 til 1982, Mangano was behind bars for refusing to testify before a New York federal grand jury. Around this time he was also investigated for corruption in the Dallas based Army Air Force Exchange Service and their links with companies that dealt with them. Mangano´s alleged links to these companies were unclear however and never proven.

Mangano was also known as a heavy gambler who often visited Atlantic City. He was placed on a "grey list" of 60 to 70 names of individuals that casinos were told not to extend credit or complimentaries to. Once casino officials of the Golden Nugget told an obstinate Mangano, when he was in Atlantic City, that their placing him on the "grey list" came from the gaming division. Amazingly, Mangano returned to the casino not long after with a letter from the same gaming division stating it never told the Golden Nugget not to extend credit to Mangano. Two years later however, Mangano was placed on the Black list, banning him from visiting any Atlantic City´s casino.

Al D´Arco claimed in his book that Mangano was once slapped around and people on the forums commented how the hell did the guy got away with that? Well, Mangano wasn´t made at the time so it wasn´t a case of an associate laying his hands on a made guy. Mangano was made later, in the mid to late 1970s.

I would not be surprised if Mangano actually kept his underboss position when he came out of prison some years ago. But in name only. Due to illness and old age he must have basically been retired. And that could explain why Bellomo used the consigliere (DiChiarra) as "street boss".
There is your Capeci article. You guys happy now?
Absolutely. HK is a credit to the board. Actual journalism.

Great info. After doing 15 years I don't think they would knock him down as underboss. From what I understand the ruling panel was a temporary replacement for the official underboss and Consiglieri.

Benny Eggs was a patriot no matter what he did in later life, first and foremost. He fought bravely for his country and put his life on the line in WW2. That out of the way, he did the same for the Genovese Family. Not flashy, didn't seek attention, flew under the radar. Always obeyed orders and would've done life in prison or the death penalty before he ratted. An American Patriot first, a stand up guy also.

The Genovese Admin and Capos are mostly Chin's guys and they have learned a lot from him. Leo, Alan Longo, Patty Falcetti, etc all pose as legit businessmen with investments and stock trading etc. I heard that Longo even got his stock trading license back recently - does anyone know what that guy is up to nowadays?

The west side has so many veteran guys out on the street that it's hard for me to think Barney isn't using them at a minimum in disinformation schemes and I'm sure the old timers absolutely love it sticking it to the Feds .

Dom C , Mario, Danny Leo etc etc , all guys that went to huge lengths for decades to confuse the Feds , for some reason I can see the west side doing all kinds meets , whispers ( legit and not ) or what have you to waste an already thin Fed manpower and resources . Having X guy meet with X old timer or spread X old timer disinformation and just exhausting them , I could really see Barney really keeping the Feds off balance today.

The WS fed team IMO likely has respect for their tradecraft . Can you imagine trying to put those pieces together ? Chin seemed to like admin guys that already had a lot of ) and thus made decisions without much of greed being a factor . I don't really see BB taking a big cut outside of the xmas $ as that probably cuts his legal risk and he can get paid thru all the businesses he has and the legit biz that can be steered his way . They just built probably a 40 floor hotel on water street .

I do think the Feds are getting a little more active vs LCN recently as biz seemed to be coming back , especially union and construction biz . I also kind of think Danny Leo is still active where I think others thinks he is likely retired , honestly who knows lol

I requested Matty Ianniello´s file the day after he died. Haven´t received it yet...it´s been five years! Mangano´s file would take a long time to process too, I imagine.

That is what I find interesting about some of these guys, they went away to serve their country whether they wanted to (joined) or not (drafted) and came back doing the same damn thing they were probably doing before they left. I also wonder if some learned the tools of the trade (killing) in the service during WWII? Some who might have been drafted might not have made their bones yet but after the war and they killed a few maybe it didn't bother them as much when they came back.

I DO KNOW battle can do some crazy shit to you and your mind at such a young age.
Being a tailgunner is a lot different than being an Infantryman or Combat Engineer
