I have never seen Madonna listed higher then UB. Iv even seen it say acting UB at times.
Usually Crea has always been cre tied for acting/street as well as many want to just say the top.

Why don't you just read the indictment?
Exactly. In fact, read both Crea indictments from 2000 and 2017. In the first one, it said he had been the official underboss and acting boss at different times. But the more recent one has him as the official underboss and Madonna as acting boss. End of story.
does having Amuso still as the official boss help the wise guys and the Feds . A symbiotic relationship that each side gets some benefits from. ? or do you all think I am off here ?
I'm not sure it's a case of helping one or the other. It's often said that if the feds have the official boss in prison, that's takes some of the heat off everyone else. But I think the feds will go after whoever is running things on the street, regardless if they're the official boss or just acting boss. For instance, if Cali were to become the official boss of the Gambino family, I'm not sure that would make him a bigger target for the feds than he already is now.
I agree , I just figured it would save the gov money and they can claim the boss is in jail , because dont they have a mandate to go full throttle agaisnt any offical LCN boss. But its quite possible they do anyway agiasnt the acting
I think letting the imprisoned boss keep the title does help the guys on the street a little bit.
-It may do nothing for the FBI, but when it comes to jurors or sentencing, it looks a lot better to be acting in place of someone rather than being the guy calls the shots
-In the eyes of the public and senior LE officials, having a family boss in jail makes the family look weaker and in less of a priority (it's all a PR battle).
-Can help avoid power struggles if some structure is left behind after a bosses imprisonment
