Yes exactly what happened and good for that judge.
Pedophiles should have no rights what so ever. They should all be put to death upon conviction. Robbing a child of they're innocence and they're child hood is inexcusable. No amount of money or jail time can ever replace that. Those poor kids are the ultimate victims. This debate also sparked the great black hand war of 2013 with that fuck oobatz who was chased off this forum due to his defending child molesters. On other mob forums it was compared to the Colombo civil war of the 90s and the pittsburgh Cleveland wars of the 60s and 70s. It was very intense. For those of you who survived I'm sure you recall.

The FBI knew that the Gambino guy was a pedophile when he flipped. It was only after a judge ruled that his sexual past could be brought up in court that the government started handing out sweet plea deals.

This happened with the Gambino case too. I think the CW was a pedophile or rapist or something. Fucked the whole case up. Everyone Copped to much less time.

Merlino's lawyers would not care to go to trial because it would be high profile,they know they will win and it will be good for there practice. The case is a joke with corrupt feds and bumbling idiots. Joey wont do a day behind bars,at least for this shit anyway.

Good point.

Sonny I believe if I'm reading the reports correctly the Fed undercover was Onofrio's driver and had no contact with Merlino.
Good point.
Though Parello sent Rubeo to be 'with' Merlino, and 'Jeff' was 'an associate' of Rubeo's so we don't really know what dealings 'Jeff' had with Merlino.

Sure. But 'winning' vs 'losing' is a one sided equation.
Plea = 12 months
'Win' = Zero months
'Lose' = Ass fucked and probably 20yrs.

Still want to go to trial with 'a good chance'?
Me? No.

Joey? Absolutely. lol

Don't forget Dino was overheard saying he could do his recommended sentence, which was nearly the same as Gioli's, standing on his head. Then he got his fifty years and got the fuck out of there.

Good column this week...thanks for putting it up, HB.

But you did compare them by bringing them up as examples, and those cases involved several murders or murder conspiracies related to the Colombo war, Merlino's case is a little unique in that it seems like he was thrown in there for name value. Merlino, Jacobs, and Meringolo aren't stupid, there's a lot of reasons to take this to trial.

I don't see it going that far though, my guess is the feds will drop the case or offer Merlino a deal he's willing to take.
