That's really THE Crime Of The Century!!! Hadn't they done that, they could have taken a deal, plead guilty etc. But now, 100 years in jail are guaranteed, no prosecutor or judge is ever letting people who do things like that, on the street even again    I think they will have a hard time to find good lawyers, even they have a moral code and don't take certain people as clients, no matter what the fee

Feds bust New York City-based Russian crime ring
Associated Press
Published June 7, 2017

NEW YORK – More than two dozen alleged members of a New York City-based Russian organized crime gang have been charged with racketeering and other crimes.

Federal prosecutors say the suspects operated across the country and abroad and trafficked in stolen goods, including cigarettes and even a cargo shipment of more than 10,000 pounds (4535 kilograms) of chocolate.

The gang members also were charged with plotting to rob victims by seducing and drugging them with chloroform and using electronic devices to hack casino slot machines.

The defendants were mostly born in the former Soviet Union and had strong ties to Ukraine, Georgia and Russia.

The indictment also accuses them of extortion, gambling, narcotics trafficking and credit card fraud.

The charges against 31 people were unsealed in Manhattan federal court Wednesday.

Not that I've noticed.

Maybe it just seems that way because of the 24 hour a day media obsession with Russia relative to Trump.

As far as Russian OC cases, there have been a some higher profile ones in recent ones but I don't really see a huge spike overall.
