Actually, 1982 was the third victory for Italy. Also champion in 1934 and 1938.

Napoli won UEFA cup in 1988 if I remember and it is a lesser tournament. It was the time of Maradona and I'm sure some drugs money from Camorra.

You're right Billy....first for the Azzurri, then a few years later when Napoli won the European championship.

Toto....that's the guy. I've never seen that pic and wasn't aware he even came back here, never mind died in jail. Thanks.

Only Ciccio Gambino I can think of is Francesco Gambino a member of Torretta family who was jailed in America in 1990 for drug trafficking and died a few years ago still in jail. There is a picture of him in this board standing with Gaetano Badalamenti, Michael Perna, John Riggi and Filippo Casamento.

That was a beautiful summer for the Italian football fans ;)

reason I ask is that there was a guy who went over to Borgo Nuovo around the same time who used the same name "Gambino" (not sure if he was actually a Gambino by blood or another loosely related relative) but the guy I'm thinking of was very Americanized, spoke perfect English, and was also called "Cheech".
Was just wondering if they were the same fella.
Maybe Felice could clear it up for me about the guy I'm thinking of.

Is the guy referred to before as John Gambino who Castellano sent to Palermo in the late 70's./ early 80's also known as "Frank" or "Cheech"?
