He was?
Where did this happen, by whom?
I'm not questioning it happened but I've never heard this before.
Cheers.
I thought this was common knowledge, but perhaps just another myth?
Where are the forum experts when we need them?
Anyway, I'm sure he would be received with respect on the island, but I also believe Joe B. that he lacked connections. I never read that he was affiliated with any particular family over there. So how could he go there and assume leadership of one of the clans or carve out his own territory? I don't think the Sicilian clans were subservient to their American cousins.
I'm not at all suggesting he would assume a leadership position of an existing clan.
But he would be treated with all accord due someone of his equivalence and I logically assume be allowed to conduct business if he had the means as long as it respected existing protocol (territorial respect/tribute etc).
His situation is quite uncommon ( a boss from another country assuming residence) so its hard to draw comparison or take a precedent.
But what we do know is status is universal so we know he wouldve been afforded the respect due his position. Whether he conducted business, how he did so etc etc are all quite complicated, speculative issues.
