Both Philly Lucky and Gerry Lang were made in 1976. Not in the 1950s.

Another one would be Gerry Lang with the Colombos. He was made in 1976 and by 1981, he was the acting boss.
This is JD's info not mine, but Phil Giaccone was made during the 1950's.

I also thought Jerry Lang was made in the 50's too? (edit: I read that Lang could have been made in the very late 50's but then was officially made in 1976) Maybe the 50's making is BS?

Fatico headed a crew of associates, when he went to prison it was to associate Gotti as the first among equals. He administered the crew, reported to Dellacroce. Very rare case of being in the right place at the right time and having the right abilities... Also a year after he was formally made, he was official Capo, but Dellacroce was pushing for it ever since Gotti was made but Castellano allegedly thought it was too soon... Joe Sodano in NJ headed a crew of associates, separate from the NJ crew headed by Licata-Caprio. Being a capo, doesn't always mean one has a large crew under him. Some guys like Mike Polizzi were capo but had no crew under them, just had the rank and was direct with the Admin.

Interestingly, in the Castellano faction, when DeMeo got made, he was told by Nino Gaggi that Neapolitans don't rise above Soldier.
You mean Frank Polizzi from then Decavs?

Wasn't Montagna made in 2004? If that's correct he became boss in a short while as well.

Joe Ligambi. Solder-Boss (but spent a decade in prison, but was Boss or acting within a few years after being released.)
Come to think of it. Alot of members got promoted after the Massino then basciano indictments. Feds took so many guys off the streets they had to fill the voids. So maybe LE is a big reason why you see so many guys rise rather quickly.

It appears I was mistaken about the Fatico crew having no made guys under him. JD and Pogo know their stuff.

Doesn't anybody read prior posts here anymore?

Was the Fatico Crew all Associates? Maybe by the 70s but didn't they have made members in earlier? I believe Daniel Fatico (Carmine's) was in that Crew and he was a made member.

Gotti was unofficially the Acting Capo. The made members in that crew were old and not very active so Gotti was handling the running of it.

Philip "Philly Lucky" Giaccone also had a pretty fast rise. Two years after being made in 1976, Giaccone was part of a ruling panel, installed after Galante was sent to prison for parole violations.

Yeah it does seem likely if you're a soldier and you make capo, chances are you won't be a boss since they seem to only promote from the bottom.
