Don't know. His brother, Gerald, has been described as a Genovese soldier in these articles:

lol He definitely gets a Meow from me. They're really good. My cousin's gf is always talking about playing paddleball (she's from Brooklyn/Coney Island area) She wants me to play next time I'm visiting.

As for the stickball games. I've actually played stickball growing up with ppl from San Diego when we used to get together with all the Italians from all over the state for the ICF. We'd have Stickball and bocce tournaments. I'm a great bocce ball player  But stickball was more for the men.

You know you're Italian if you've played stickball at least once in your life

Ok back on track.

Geez what a score on that real estate deal, grossing over a $40m profit over a few years and from the city no less , lol, classic . Highly likely leaders in the Luchesse and West side got a big cut, probably had some silent points as well . Never seen that score before, great post , seems like the mob had some big income inequality issues too.

We used to have very few sources of new information and Capeci was the major one. We're spoiled here in that we have access to every book, article, etc. and we have great researchers who scrape FBI files and every other resource for obscure info. Hell even Bill Cutolo Jr. is stopping by under his own name to give his take.

There have been few members flipping the past few years and not many dramatic cases. The public isn't hungry for mob stories like they used to be and the people who are keeping track are f'n freaks like us.

I'm bored by a lot of his articles, too, but it's just how it is. It's hit Anastasia, too. When those guys completely retire or die there will be nobody to replace them. Scott, DiStefano, and other folks are trying, but Capeci and Anastasia are institutions due to decades as journalists who stepped up as the top dogs in the field at the right time.
Nice post B., very well said

People forget capeci is mid 70s , he's an old man . He may be losing his passion , I know he gets others to write his stories for him now

Outside of Gotti and Gigante, Persico is probably the most well-known boss of his era and he ties into some of the biggest headlines from the 1980s and 90s.

Of course I want Jerry Capeci to cover the most obscure details and hit us with new members, promotions, etc. but he is already writing to a niche audience so covering the Persico situation is more than appropriate.

I'm not going to disagree with that but I think he has to pay his respect to LE and honor them to keep his source material going .

IMO he should get more granular into their rackets, especially after a bust and if it takes several weeks articles to go thru with it then so be it . Can't remember if it was him but someone wrote a very good Westside Newark Crew bust article that got pretty deep into the business ( money laundering and check cashing should be talked about more) .

The violence just isn't going to be there so he needs to follow the $ IMO.

Half the fuckin article on Carmine Persico. Who gives a fuck we know his background and how he wound up in jail. He aint getting out because he is the boss. Why waste half the fuckin article on this jackoff? Buy a bus ticket and go to Montreal and find something to write about. We don't care about dead lawyers and wiseguys locked up since 1983. Just sayin..
