If he thinks he's ever getting out he's lost his mind.

The real question is does Vinny Basciano still think he's the Boss? And if he does, who is going to pay the price if he gets out for not backing him up on his legal appeals?

I think he became acting boss after he was released from prison and Tramunti, the official boss, was starting to have legal troubles.

He's seventy years old and the fucking guy is going to die in prison. Gribbs got 20 years just for saying "hello" to some fuck who was sneaking behind his back selling junk.

In case anyone didn't get this, it's from Goodfellas when Paul Cicero told Henry Hill to stop selling drugs

NOt because he was in prison but because he was given the title by Massino who was a rat. So after that you start from scratch. People made power plays for Official Boss. There can be no more "acting Boss" because you don't have an official boss. Safe to say that Mancuso made the power play took over as boss. Everyone else like Sal or Vinny TV were just street bosses for the guy in charge. Street bosses don't last long. Mancuso would need to switch his street bosses to keep LE from snatching them up quickly. Just me two cents.
The argument about Basciano's illegitimatacy as acting boss aside (because Massino flipped), there certainly can be an acting boss without an official boss. There doesn't necessarily need to be an official boss in prison, incapacitated, etc. It can be a situation where a family simply hasn't appointed an official boss yet. For example, Danny Leo was Genovese acting boss after Gigante died.
In which case he would be the Official Acting Boss. LMAO... !! Danny Leo...another example of an acting boss not lasting long. THey are like one hit wonders....
No. In the context of what we're talking about, "official" implies a permanence. In other words, an official boss is THE boss until he dies or steps down. "Acting" implies transitory or temporary. Hence the reason many don't last long in that position. They're not necessarily supposed to.

I'm fucking with you ! We have been down the Acting and Official boss status waaaaay to many time.. lol

I thougt that the commission appointed Tony Corallo as far back as 1966, not for a reason of the terrible state of the fam but in reason that he was the best man for the job. As for Gribbs being the official boss, is allways thought that when Corallo came home from his jail time became the official boss around 1970, is that not true?
I think Corallo was in line to be made boss but the indictment in 1968 put a stop for that. In 1969, Tramunti was listed by the FBI as the acting boss. In 1972/1973 he was listed as official boss, former acting boss. Corallo was made boss later, not sure when exactly. Okay makes sense.

Absolutely. Carmine Tramunti was acting boss for a couple of years before they made him official. That had to do with the terrible shape the Luccheses were in at the time. All the top guys were in jail, in poor health conditions or did not have the desire to step up. As we have seen in some cases, the Commission had to approve a new boss. It´s possible they were not able to meet and approve Tramunti until later. In the case of Mancuso, Montegna, Badalamenti (all acting bosses but at different times) it´s possible the Bonannos had decided to make Basciano official boss if he was to be acquitted in his raketeering trial. But because he was sentenced to life, Basciano becoming official boss never materialized.

How do we know that Carmine wasn't really Officially the Official Boss from the getgo. Maybe he was just Acting like the Official Acting Boss when really he was Officially the Official Boss......who's on first.....

Joe N. Gallo was Acting Boss after Castellano was killed but before Gotti was chosen as the new Boss. A similar situation happened in the Bonannos where Angelo Caruso was Acting Boss briefly after Maranzano was killed but before Joe Bonanno was chosen as the new Boss.
