Its no longer about what ethnic group does what.... They are all one.... Bc if u look at society now.... Its hard to find ppl that are 100% one thing. 100% italian? Fughetaboutit. 100% white? Black? NO SUCH THING ANYMORE.

Lol Sicily is now over run by other groups as well....
So...

Not necessarily true . In the northeast there are still alot of people who are 100 % a certin nationality.

I know i am 100% italian as is all my friends , my wife and now my 2 kids . In areas where culture is strong mike boston u will still find people who are 100 %

I am not sure, one poster from Australia said somewhere the Carlton Crew was smaller than even the smallest Cosa Nostra family, it's not really a mob organization on the same scale, I am not very well informed (I wish I was). However, the 'Ndrangheta is very much present, that's fore sure, with strong ties to Italy all the time, especially the Barbaro, Sergi, Alvaro families I think. There is an interesting book about the history of the 'ndrangheta in Australia:
https://www.amazon.com/Evil-Life-Story- ... =evil+life
The bikers have some activity too, but I don't remember well, there was a series of documentaries called "Gangs of Oz" that covered various types of organized crime there, including Asian groups, Chinese Triads if I remember well. But the names are difficult to remember, seriously, it seems the gangs recruited everybody, Bulgarians along English people, Arabs along Italians and so on. These resulted in interesting combinations in my opinion. The 'ndrangheta keeps to the traditions and is strictly Calabrian Italian though.

Yes, but even if the groups work together, they are still usually composed of specific ethnicities each, even when closely allied with groups of other ethnicities.
The only case in organized crime where they REALLY don’t care at all where the person comes from, is Australia I think. There, apart from some ‘ndrangheta groups, you can find gangs or organizations than include a little bit of everything from everywhere. Like that “famous” Carlton Crew, that listed during the same time period members with names like Gangitano, Moran, Williams (Italian, Irish, Anglo-Saxon) or that 2009 hit with the victim McGurk (Scottish origins apparently), the one ordering it named Medich (Serbian or Croatian?), the one organizing it named Gattellari (Italian) and the triggermen Haissam Safetli (Arabic ethnicity maybe) and Christopher Estephan (you tell me the nationality, I don’t guess it).

That’s what I call a “melting pot” and “brotherhood of nations”! Everybody take example from the Australian mob! :D :D :D

Sicily is not over run by any other group than Cosa Nostra. In fact the criminal aspect has nearly finished every other group even in the east and south where previously there different mafia type gangs.

The underworld in the USA today

Sounds like a newbie question probably but still, not living in the USA and only occasionally getting the news, would be interesting to know your opinions:

What criminal organizations are the dominant ones in today's underworld in the USA? Surely not the Cosa Nostra, it's not in its peak of power anymore, but who then? The Mexican cartels have strong allies in Chicago for example (I think I read this), but they don't have a very strong presence in New York. The Russian mob is there in New York, but it's not one organization, but different gangs and not that large scale, mostly in Brighton Beach, there were also some cases in Miami I think. Not sure about the Chinese Triads, the Yakuza, the Albanians (apart from the Alex Rudaj crew which didn't last long) etc. What about the Colombians? They were powerful earlier, but today I am not sure they have the same power even in Colombia as they did during Escobar's times, much less in the USA. Then there were Cuban groups that earlier they could even put pressure on the Italians, when Roy DeMeo's crew killed some of them and they wanted revenge, but today I am not sure about their status.

So, in your opinion, which group or groups in the underworld has the most financial power and maybe political connections in the USA today?

EDIT: Got confused about Cubans and Colombians initially, it was with the Cubans that DeMeo had a conflict with, edited the post.
