I believe there is a misconseption about wiseguys who go to jail. Nowhere is it "written" that your family gets taken care of. I believe I read somewhere that Gotti's wife had to file for welfare when he went away...Nobody who goes to jail expects his family to receive money...Those who state otherwise, like Mickey Scars, are often informants trying to justify their move. He was caporegime, I would love to see if he gave money to the wives of the guys in his crew instead of trying to bang them on the sneak...
The way I get it, your rackets, unless you personally invested in them (loan book, gambling operation, whatever...) you keep your share even when incarcerated. Whatever monies you had coming goes to your family.
If, which happens 8 times out of ten, the money you had coming comes from the rackets, the logic is you had it because the family and Cosa nostra put you there so you have no entitlement to it.
