Christies post was tongue in cheek. At least it seems like it to me. He's basically stating how every informant literally has an ridiculous excuse as to how he didnt violate omerta.

Omertà is the code of silence. Definition: (as practiced by the Mafia) a code of silence about criminal activity and a refusal to give evidence to authorities. how exactly could you rat without violating it?
Michael Franzese didn't violate it because he didn't testify or provide info against any made members.
Joe Bonanno didn't violate it because everyone he wrote a book about was dead.
Gravano didn't violate it because Gotti double crossed him first.
Jr Gotti didn't violate it because he only spoke with the FBI and allegedly nothing he said lead to anyone getting indicted.
This alleged code of silence has always been open to interpretation and everyone claims they followed it, even the rats, each and every one of the justify it by claiming they were true to the code it was just all these other assholes that didn't get it, and since no one got it why uphold it yourself? Or you can do what Franese and Rene Boxer Enriquez did and have a 'moral epiphany' (usually at the same time they are squeezed, either by law enforcement or rivals.)
Is this tongue in cheek?

The above criteria I really haven't seen anywhere and it seems to be a stretch to argue them being reasons these guys didn't violate Omerta. With this "open to interpretation" thinking, one (particularly the violater himself) could narrow the definition so much as to justify anything and not consider themselves a rat.

Who ever said you're only breaking Omerta if you testify against made members? Are your fellow mafiosi going to trust you if you are giving information about others, even associates?

Who ever said giving information about the inner workings of a secret criminal society was OK, as far as Omerta goes, as long as you're only talking about dead people? As we know, Joe Bonanno writing that book provided the idea to indict the whole Comission. And later, the Bonannos temporarily referred to themselves as the Massino family (before Massino flipped himself) because they considered Bonanno to have broken Omerta.

Who ever said it was OK to violate Omerta as long as whoever you're testifying against double crossed you first? Naturally some rats will try as much as they can to justify their defection, and maybe even argue they didn't violate Omerta, but these arguments don't really hold water - especially with the mob itself.

The only possible argument for one of them, and it may be a stretch, is Gotti Jr. Not because nobody got indicted (another weak justification that won't fly with the rest of the mob) but because we simply don't know what was or wasn't said. But even meeting with the government in a proffer session is suspicious to say the least.

The traditional oath typically spoke of revealing the secrets of the organization. Street-wise, if made man X testified about who robbed a bank in a non-mob crime, he would be a rat. I believe he would not have violated this oath.

Agree. To me as an onlooker: Junior was raised and instilled the mob values his father bestowed onto him. Talking to the FBI to lighten your sentence would have been seen as a rat in the father's eyes. However, each person uses their own perspeption to breaking 'omerta,' I use that term as an synonym for 'not ratting' and everyone seems to have their reasons for breaking it. I will say that Junior agreeing to the FBI meeting was probably a pretty fucking painful experience as opposed to Alite who probably flipped at the offer of a hamburger. Regardless of why they flipped, they both offer different sides of the story that Kasparona is working on.

Based on my own personal perception of the Gotti family interviews: they are remorseless noveau riche fucks who's family fortune will be lost in a generation. They still glorify their father every chance they get and he's become a heirloom for them to prosper off. Which is why Growing Up Gotti was such a slap in the fucking face. The mansion, cars, clothes and lavish lifestyle was all paid for by organized crime. Without her father, Victoria would be worse off than Wendy from Breaking Bad but because of who her father was she gets to live in a fucking mansion with her three braindead sons.
Pretty much agree with everything you said there. If anyone else did what JR did under SR's watch they would have been clipped at the first chance they got as it would be seen as a rat move in SR's eyes. I also agree whatever money they have will be lost in a generation. I see a few grand kids of SR's getting pinched down the road for some stupid shit when the money starts to dry up. This Alite guy is a real sociopath as well. These guys will do anything to not work even after they flip ..look at Alite with all his bullshit. He actually puts in more time & work trying not to work & scam for a living then if he actually did work for a livin. lol It's fuckin nutts !

Frank Pentangeli didnt testify against Michael Corleone, but he still violated omertà when he shared information with the feds after the Rosado brothers attempt. He still had to pay the price of a rat, because thats what he was. Haha.

That describes Jr Gotti & Alite to a certain extent.

I think the people who try to say jr didn't rat are out of their minds. The jr fanboys can spin it anyway they want but you can't read the info he provided the Feds and come to any other conclusion that he tried to rat to save his ass. Just because it didn't work out for him doesn't mean anything

What I was trying to point out-- Trucchio already knew Alite was an informant. His lawyer Joe Corozzo couldn't be there at the beginning of the trial and they couldn't get the date pushed back so Trucchio handled his own opening statement. But before the trial Corozzo/Trucchio's PRivate Investigator was Larry Frost. In calls from Brazil with Frost Alite admitted that he was meeting with FBI Agents in the 90s. So he confirmed the rumors that he was a longtime snitch. During his testimony at the Gotti trial Alite was asked about this and confirmed again that he was meeting with FBI agents in the 90s. The transcript can be read here: http://johnalitefacts.com/rat

The Corrozzo bros ok'd Trucchio's opening statement according to Alite. It's in Ricciutti's interview with Alite around the 13 min mark. It does seem to go against LCN protocol as I understand it… Alite also says Trucchio admitted to being a skipper and a captain in court.. does anyone know if Trucchio admitted to being an actual member of LCN?
