Durant les Fêtes, l’animateur d’une émission balado sur le crime de Detroit, aux États-Unis, a annoncé, citant des sources, qu’une paix a été conclue entre Martin Robert et Leonardo Rizzuto, dans un restaurant de Montréal, vers la mi-décembre.
Dans les jours et les semaines qui ont suivi, La Presse a tenté, en vain, de se faire confirmer l’information auprès de sources des milieux policiers, judiciaires et criminels jusqu’à ce qu’elle apprenne qu’en janvier, celui que la police considère comme le protecteur du clan des Siciliens, Pietro D’Adamo, a dîné avec Martin Robert dans un restaurant de Montréal. Les deux hommes auraient été flanqués chacun d’un individu qui semblait assurer leur protection.
Sans confirmer ces informations, le commandant Renaud est toutefois en mesure d’affirmer que les policiers observent effectivement une détente entre le clan Rizzuto et le groupe de Martin Robert.
« On a vu une trêve entre les deux organisations criminelles et on a observé des faits sur le terrain qui nous le démontrent. On croit que présentement, il y a une certaine union entre des organisations criminelles, dont les motards et certains groupes de la mafia, qui ont décidé de s’allier, ou ne serait-ce que de conclure un pacte de non-agression », poursuit le commandant Renaud.

We believe that currently, there is a certain unity between criminal organizations, including bikers and certain mafia groups, who have decided to form an alliance, or even just to conclude a non-aggression pact," continues Commander Renaud.
