An in depth X-ray scanner sounds next level, whats also next level is that they won't stop using that port.

Maxi-seizure of cocaine at the Port of Gioia Tauro: cargo worth almost 200 million euros blocked

Checks inside 11 containers: very pure cocaine found for a total weight of over 1,100 kg

Another hard blow to criminal organizations dedicated to international drug trafficking has been inflicted by the Italian authorities. The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabria, in collaboration with the personnel of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), seized at the Port of Gioia Tauro a huge load of very pure cocaine, for a total weight of 1,170 kilograms.

The investigations led the military of the Gioia Tauro Group and the officials of the local Customs Office to identify 11 suspicious containers, all coming from a port in southern Brazil and destined for a company based in Reggio Calabria, after having made a stopover in Spain.

The control operation was conducted through an in-depth X-ray scan, using the sophisticated scanner equipment provided to the ADM. Subsequently, a thorough inspection was carried out with the support of the canine units of the Guardia di Finanza of Gioia Tauro. Thanks to these advanced methodologies, the operators were able to identify a thousand blocks of cocaine, cleverly hidden inside bags of combustible material.

The drug traffickers' attempt to evade rigorous customs controls was thus thwarted. It is estimated, in fact, that once placed on the market, both in Italy and in the rest of Europe, the load would have generated over 187 million euros.

Investigations are continuing to identify those responsible for the shipment and the final recipients of the illicit load.
