It's all a series of distractions 'til you die.
At least you don’t have to pummel his ass.

I bought The Westies and Goombata on the same day at a Waldenbooks only a couple months after they both came out, they were my firsts.

But Five families and the first Carl Sifakis Mafia Encyclopedia were the jewels of my mob book collection early on.

RIP S. Raab
Man that's some nostalgia right there. Going to Waldenbooks at the mall and making a beeline for the True Crime section, that was me as a teenager 30 years ago.

Those old "mafia encyclopedias" were fun. I like the one that lists every mob killer as having done like 50~100 hits.

5 families is the greatest mob book I'll even say true crime book ever written. it's 20yrs old and since massino flipped and a few others there stuff that could have been corrected, but the best ever.

RIP! One of the best. That generation is almost gone now. His series on the Garment Center in the 1970s was groundbreaking for the time and era! Much, much respect for him and his works!

I love the expression, "His prose tended to stray from elegance." You could do worse than learning about the mob from Saab. God bless.
