I've been with him when he was on phone with father and have privately done more research on scarpa and that war than anything else and if anyone deserves compassionate release it's this guy I mean I'm happy for all the younger lunatics from the 90s that all just got out and I believe they will just spend time with there family and not kill people but Vic sr should really fall in the release category for soooo many reasons I won't even get into. The girl on the show was Vic jr daughter, my friend is married to her sister great family honestly they changed there lives (the older brothers) and they have a brother who raps on YouTube and I think has a label he's good he goes by lil Vic I think. I just know when people have a good heart and this family is humble and don't bother anyone.
But the real question is why is nadu talking shit about black hand forum on a show I just watched. I mean I didn't get the warmest reception when I first started posting from a few bad apples but nobody has more knowledge than the people on this forum it pissed me off. Cheers

Carmine Sessa was a rat who was responsible for the entire Columbo war.

Vic Orena was propped up and prodded by John Gotti to take over but Vic made that move himself along w Joey Scopo, Nicky Black and Wild Bill. There’s wiretaps and dozens of informants that confirm this. There was tension for years before the war actually started but what kicked things off for the most part was Carmine Sessa and crew in a car by Vic’s house looking to Jill him. This was in response to Vic polling the captains just like he did through Jimmy Angelina, also Gravano confirmed and testified to Vics involvement in the murder of Tommy Ocera

I have no horse in the race, all I'm saying is there is a different side to the story that is commonly told.

I haven't started (reading Ghost Shadow Peter Chin book - A+) but the book probably should have the Orena family as authors. Orena was petitioning capos and Gotti (murdered his best friend to appease Gotti). Orena had Jimmy Angelina murdered, I believe, as he leaked his plan.
That all might be true but this book gives different reasons for all those things you mentioned.
I like you Scootch, but there is no way. He could have presented this evidence at trial, but he didn’t. It’s easy to try to find an alternative theory 30 years after the fact. He was given the blueprint from when wild bill and crew beat the racketeering case (blame the fbi and scarpa defense). As outfitguy said, every rat who testified, and there were many, all said he started the war. He polled the captains and the other bosses to take over. He may not have fired the actual first shot, but he knew Carmine wasn’t going to just roll over and retire. It’s a bit disingenuous of his family to play revisionist history.

I'm currently reading the Larry McShane book about Vic Orena and Vic's sons also insist it wasn't Vic who started the war. They say Vic was loyal to the Persico's up unto the point Carmine tried to have Vic murdered. Apparently after the botched hit attempt there was a sitdown between Vic and Teddy Persico and Vic would have stepped down at that point but he felt if he did the Persico's would have eventually whacked his sons and Billy Cutolo he thought there was no turning back so stuck to his guns and the vast majority of the family was with him.

There is testimony from government witnesses that it was Vic Orena who provoked the Colombo family into a bloody war.
