I caught the reference and I appreciate the more obscure ones like that especially when used in a perfect scenario. Kudos

As a Greek Australian, I’ve always heard about Astoria, Queens. Still heavily Greek or just a Greek flavour so to speak?
Nothings like it was but still a lot of Greeks. Rows of houses w Greek flags out certain blocks w tons of Greek restaurants and cafes
Like most places, watered down from how it was. Good to see the people keeping some of their culture!

I've always heard the Rockaways referred to as the Irish Riviera. Rockaway Beach/Park, Breezy, Roxbury, Belle Harbor all those neighborhoods.
Broad Channel, which has had some of the very lowest turnover of homes from longtime residents of any NYC neighborhood. Even when the Irish have left every other New York enclave, they will still be there in Broad Channel, mean mugging everyone at the A train station.
Yes I forgot Broad Channel right over the bridge from Rockaway Beach. A very similar neighborhood to Gerritsen Beach right on the water lots of old bungalow style houses and plenty of grimey Irish. I love a good ginger broad tho I must say.

And with all the Lebanese along 5th Ave we call Bay Ridge....Beirut.

Yes and even the “Italian” neighborhoods are not and in many cases have never been 100% Ital. Bensonhurst in its heyday had a sizable Jewish population and some Polish too. Today, neighborhoods like Throggs Neck and Country Club also still have many Irish and Germans left.

Plenty of Irish in Gerritsen Beach still too.

A few last bastions still holding on.

Italian neighborhoods would also be the last European neighborhood's in Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens.

No Irish, Polish, German places left.

You'd go from Puerto Rican to Black to Chinese to Indian to Mexican.
No more Europeans.

Not from NYC, but it's the same all over.
